One of the key decisions guests need to make when planning for their Disney trip is what to pack! Our Disneyland and Walt Disney World packing lists cover the most essential items we recommend guests bring to the parks.
Unfortunately, one of our top Disney trip essentials was just recalled by its manufacturer, and this is a recall you need to know about. At Mickey Visit, we report on all the most recent Disney news, including the new refurbishments announced at Disney World hotels and the opening date for a fan favorite Disney World restaurant.

Our Essential Disney Packing List Item
When you’re at Disneyland or Disney World, you’re constantly using your phone, especially if you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Between taking photos, accessing the theme park maps on the app, and booking Lightning Lanes, your phone battery will start to die pretty quickly. Even though Disney makes an effort to keep guests off their phones, the reality is that your phone battery will start to die pretty quickly during the day.

This is why the Anker Power Bank has been a popular item on our Disney packing lists for years! If you bring a power bank with you to the parks, you are prepared for any low battery issues on your phone, and you can also avoid purchasing costly Fuel Rods, which often don’t have as long a battery life. While Fuel Rods are nice in a pinch, the Anker Power Bank has always been a top performer for phone charging.
Anker Power Bank Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
Unfortunately for Anker Power Bank fans, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of more than one million Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks due to a fire and burn hazard caused by the lithium-ion battery overheating. This is for the Anker PowerCore model A1263, which includes approximately 1.16 million units affected that were sold in the United States between June 2016 and December 2022.
Reports include fires, explosions, minor burn injuries, and more than $60,000 in property damage. In this report, consumers are advised to stop using the power banks immediately. The recalled devices should not be thrown away in household trash or recycling and instead must be disposed of through a local hazardous waste program because of the fire risk.
Consumers can contact Anker for a free replacement, which requires submitting a photo of the recalled unit with identifying information. I owned one of these models of Anker, which Amazon notified me of, and filling out the form for my free replacement was pretty simple. I had my power bank for years, so the model number had worn off mine but Anker still accepted my photo and sent me a new power bank pretty quickly. If you purchased your Anker Power Bank through Amazon, you likely got a notice from them as well, which makes the process quite easy.
The reports of fires, explosions, and burn injuries linked to these power banks are serious, so you should check the model number of your Anker power bank as soon as possible.
That said, we still love Anker products and carry them with us in the parks.

If you don’t currently have an Anker Power Bank, the good news is that most recent model, without any fire or burn hazards, is available on Amazon. You can purchase it here for $19.99. This is also the replacement you will be sent if you submit the recall replacement.
