You Can Stay in “Up” House and “Inside Out” Headquarters As Part Of New Airbnb Offering

Airbnb has announced the introduction of Icons, which it describes as “a new category of extraordinary experiences hosted by the greatest names in music, film, television, art, sports, and more.” These experiences allow guests to spend time with iconic celebrities, stay at iconic locations from favorite stories, and more.

Airbnb has revealed the first 11 Icons, which excitingly includes the house from Up—and it actually floats! There will also be an Inside Out 2 experience as well in anticipation of the movie's release as part of the collection.

“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination—until now,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”

Keep reading for more details on the Up House, Inside Out house, and some more of the cool experiences included in the Icons collection.

You Can Stay in the House from “Up”!

Airbnb Up House floating

The house from Disney/Pixar's film Up has become one of the most iconic parts of the film. In the story, Carl is determined to keep a promise he made to his late wife, Ellie, to take her to Paradise Falls by attaching thousands of colorful balloons to his house to fly there, and a great adventure ensues. The house is one of the highlights of the current Pixar Fest fireworks show as it flies behind the castle!

Now, guests will have the opportunity to reserve a stay in the house and step into the story of Up. The house offered as part of the Icons collection is located in the red rocks of Abiquiu, New Mexico, and is a detailed re-creation of Carl and Ellie's house that has over 8,000 balloons! According to USA Today, the Up House can be suspended up to 50 feet in the air by a crane while guests are outside.

You can see the interior with the two chairs from the film where Carl and Ellie would read, listen to music, and spend time together.

The listing for the Airbnb is quite adorable with some fun commentary from Carl that starts out with, “I don’t always like visitors, but I guess it’s pretty nice to have them now that it’s just me and Dug. So, come stay in my cozy home I made with my dear Ellie. My greatest adventures have happened here, and I learned that the best ones are always with someone you love, so bring your pals to kickstart your very own Adventure Book and watch as my house drifts off before you depart.”

Throughout the description, Carl's voice is amusingly interjected as he cautions guests not to touch anything and not to get “too comfy,” etc. You'll crack up at the little bits of commentary throughout!

Another fun Disney/Pixar-themed offering that is part of the Icons collection is the opportunity to stay overnight at Headquarters, the control center of Riley's emotions, hosted by Joy. The listing invites guests to “sleep in a dreamatorium,” “control Riley's emotion panel,” and “hang with Riley's emotions” with both new and old friends like Anger and Anxiety.

There haven't been any images shared yet, and the listing says that more info is coming soon. Just like for the Up House, the listing for this is so cute—in the “My Work” category, it says “Emotion creating joy” and Joy's fun fact is “I love to dance.”

Other notable experiences for the 11 Icons unveiled include the opportunity to stay in a 2D animated re-creation of Marvel Animation’s X-Mansion in Westchester, New York, enjoy a living room session with Doja Cat as she hosts a living room performance with her favorite songs and tracks from her latest album, and spend a night in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy.
