1. HHN 2026's Dates Start Earlier Than Ever

The 2026 season of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida begins on August 28. That's the earliest date in the event's 35-year history, and a break from tradition. Typically, the first night of HHN is the Friday before Labor Day. This year, it's two Fridays before the holiday.

  • August 28, 29, & 30, 2026
  • September 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, & 30, 2026
  • October 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, & 31, 2026
  • November 1, 2026

The event's operating hours are 6:30 PM to 2 AM. Guests visiting Universal Studios Florida during the daytime on HHN event dates who aren't staying for HHN must leave.

Single-night HHN ticket prices start at $88, increasing from 2025's minimum price of $83.

2. New Haunted House, with 9 More to Come

10 all-new haunted houses will be part of Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Studios Florida.

These walk-through attractions feature elaborate storytelling and movie-set-quality attention to detail. This stands in contrast to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World, which typically has the same lineup of entertainment year after year.

Universal just revealed this year's first haunted house, Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control. The haunted house will reveal the origins of Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow, two characters from previous HHNs.

Jack and Dr. Oddfellow also serve as this year's event icons, appearing elsewhere throughout the night in addition to their haunted house.

Over the years, HHN has introduced many original characters and stories, some with intricate lore that Universal keeps building upon. With 2026 being the event's 35th anniversary, now is a fitting time for two returning favorites to be the focus of the proceedings.

An additional nine haunted houses will be announced in the months to come. We expect a mix of fresh, new stories concocted by Universal's creative teams, as well as haunted houses based on familiar horror movies. For example, 2025's event featured a haunted house based on Five Nights at Freddy's.

3. Haunted Houses Start Operating Earlier in the Day for Select Guests

Universal Orlando offers its usual suite of ticket options for Halloween Horror Nights 2026, including Universal Express and R.I.P. Tours, but a few familiar ticket choices are slightly different this year.

The Scream Early ticket add-on grants the guest entry into Universal Studios Florida starting at 2 PM, before Halloween Horror Nights' official start time of 6:30 PM. This way, the guest can enjoy some of the regular, non-HHN attractions in the park, like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley and Minion Land, before HHN begins.

Universal has sold the Scream Early ticket in the past, but with a 3 PM entry time instead of 2 PM.

Additionally, for 2026, three haunted houses will begin operating at 2 PM for guests with the Scream Early ticket. Previously, haunted houses did not open until the official event start time hours later, or shortly before that.

This is a big perk, and makes the Scream Early ticket advantageous for guests who want to see all 10 haunted houses in one visit, especially if they haven't purchased Universal Express. See our Halloween Horror Nights tips for more help planning your evening.

Scream Early ticket prices start at $70, increasing from 2025's minimum price of $55. HHN admission is required, but not included.

4. Lower Crowds Later in the Season with Special Ticket

Premium Scream Night debuted in 2024 as a one-night-only special version of Halloween Horror Nights. During Premium Scream Night, Universal limits the park's capacity to significantly fewer guests than a regular HHN, meaning wait times are much lower for everything.

All haunted houses are open, and guests receive unlimited food. The trade-off is that Premium Scream Night costs four times the minimum price of a single-night HHN ticket.

For 2026, Universal will host two Premium Scream Nights for the first time. Following tradition, the first Premium Scream Night will be on August 27, the night before the first official HHN date. This means guests at the August 27 Premium Scream Night will experience HHN 2026 before anyone else.

The second Premium Scream Night will be on October 19. This presents a nice option for guests visiting Universal Orlando closer to Halloween who prefer lower crowds and are willing to pay the extra charge.

Premium Scream Night tickets start at $399, increasing from 2025's minimum price of $375. Guests who attended 2025's Premium Scream Night should check their email inboxes for a $75 discount offer from Universal to attend one of 2026's Premium Scream Nights.

5. Higher Prices for All Ticket Types

As you may have already been able to tell throughout this story, Halloween Horror Nights tickets are more expensive this year.

Here's how HHN prices stack up from 2025 to 2026 across various ticket types. In each case, the cost listed is the minimum price. They all increase depending on the date.

  • Single-night ticket: $83 in 2025, $88 in 2026
  • Express Pass add-on: $140 in 2025, $170 in 2026
  • R.I.P. Tour add-on: $370 in 2025, $400 in 2026
  • Premium Scream Night: $375 in 2025, $399 in 2026
  • Scream Early Ticket add-on: $55 in 2025, $70 in 2026

Note that Frequent Fear Passes, granting HHN admission for multiple nights, are not yet available for 2026. Typically, Universal launches Frequent Fear Pass sales closer to the HHN season.

Theme park ticket prices are increasing across Orlando, with Walt Disney World also recently reaching record ticket costs.

This article focuses on Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida at Universal Orlando Resort. The event will also take place in 2026 at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, but that park will have its own set of dates, ticket options, and haunted houses.
