Minion Land Overview

The entrance of Minion Land features a fun photo-op “Minion Land” marquee featuring 22 Minions that guests can pose by before they enter the land.

The land includes two attractions, the original Despicable Me Minion Mayhem along with the brand new Villain-Con Minon Blast. There are also dining and shopping in the area along with character meet and greets.

The entire Minions Land features murals, photo ops, and other areas that celebrate characters from all the Illumination films.

Villain-Con Minion Blast

Minion Land Villain Con

Villain-Con Minion Blast is the BRAND NEW attraction in the land where guests can put their skills to the test competing against each other in an interactive gaming experience. Villain-Con was a focal point of the origin story of the Minions which was revealed in Illumination's fifth movie Minions. This film is set before the Minions meet Gru and showcases their quest to find a villain to work for which leads them to Villain-Con.

Minions Land

The ride queue for the attraction is pretty great as it essentially takes you through a real Villains Convention.

You will see a variety of booths and props set up like you would see at the Villains Con in the film.

Minion Land Villain Con

This attraction is similar in style to Disney's Toy Story Midway Mania with guests playing an arcade-style game with 3D effects. The main difference? This ride offers NO ride vehicle and guests will be standing on a moving platform as they pass through different rooms with a mixture of physical sets and 3D screens. The ride features all the villains in the Minions film along with the Minions themselves! You will be given a prop gun (shown above) to hold on to as you stand on this platform and aim for targets.

Ride Store Minions Land

As with most attractions of this style, there will be a scoreboard you can see once you're done to track how well you did.

I was surprised to not see an actual ride vehicle and that seemed to be a similar reaction amongst the other guests in line. My son enjoyed the attraction as he loves all arcade-style attractions and it did appear that most kids were having a great time as well. Some adults may not be thrilled about having to stand on this moving platform as you try to aim at targets either in front of you or behind you. Personally, this is an attraction I wouldn't mind skipping in the future but I am also not a large fan of arcade-style attractions. Kids will love this one!

Minons Land Store

After the attraction, guests enter the new retail store called Evil Stuff featuring Villain-Con and Minions merchandise.

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem

The original attraction of the land, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, is at the front of the area with the entrance sign and photo op across the street to the right.

This a ride that everyone in the family will enjoy as guests join Gru and his daughters for an adventure in Gru's home and are transformed into an actual Minion! The ride itself is a mellow 3D simulator experience. This is a fun ride that kids will enjoy. It is also fairly low risk for motion sickness as compared with other attractions that utilize screens so this is a good fit for most guests.

The Illumination Theater is where all the Minions meet-and-greets take place. Guests can meet characters like the Minions, Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Plus other popular Illumination characters like those from the movie “Sing” like Rosita, Gunter, and Johnny.

Minion Cafe

Minons Land Cafe

The Minion Cafe is the main dining location in Minions Land. This new immersive dining location features a variety of different food with areas designed after the fan-favorite Minions: Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto.

Kitchen: guests get a glimpse of the equipment and gear the Minions use to create the food at the cafe.

Breakroom: this dining area is themed like the Minion's breakroom with decor featuring “Office Safety Tips” and a vending machine with “mischievous items.”

Dining Room: this is the main dining space featuring colorful Minion artwork along with an outdoor patio overlooking Minion Land.

New Cafe Universal Orlando

The menu features some key staples from the Minions franchise including eclectic “despica-bowls” such as Otto’s Noodle Bowl, Agnes’s Honeymoon Soup, and Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower (vegan offering).

New Minion Food

Other food items include the Steak & “Cheese Ray” Sandwich, desserts such as Bob’s Teddy Bear Chocolate Cream Puff, and a kids’ menu with a Mini Boss’ Mega Melt.

The Minion Cafe also features an express window with a limited menu to allow guests to grab something to eat quickly if they don't want to dine inside.

Bake My Day

Minons Bake My Day

The Bake My Day bakery is topped with a massive pink cupcake you can see from anywhere in Minion Land. I loved the theming of this location, it was so bright and colorful.

There is a large wall full of bags you can fill with assorted candies with everything from gummi eggs to Skittles.

This eatery also includes a selection of Minion-themed treats like cupcakes, macarons, s’mores, and more.

Minions merchandise here includes exclusive apparel, plush, drinkware, accessories, and keychains. We spent awhile in this store stocking up treats.

Freeze Ray Pops

This location includes Freeze Ray Pops: colorful popsicles inspired by Gru, the Minions, and Vector.

Pop-A-Nana

This walkup location features sweet and savory popcorn inspired by the Minion's love for bananas. Looking for banana-flavored popcorn? This is where you find it! This is also where you can find all the Minion-themed popcorn buckets.

Overall, Minions Land at Univeral Orlando is a perfect addition to Universal Studios Florida with great theming that fans of the franchise will enjoy.
