Minion Land at Universal Orlando: New Attraction, Dining Coming Soon

A brand new Minion-themed land will be opening at Universal Orlando this summer! Minion Land is an immersive new area developed in partnership with the filmmakers from Illumination- the folks that made the Despicable Me and Minions films. This new land is located in Universal Studios Florida and expands the area around the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction with a second attraction, new dining, and character meet-and-greets.

Minion Land

The entrance of Minion Land features a fun photo-op “Minion Land” marquee featuring 22 Minions that guests can pose by before they enter the land.

The current Minions attraction, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, will still be available with the area around it expanded as Illumination Ave.

This new land will open at Universal Orlando this summer but no exact date has been released quite yet. We will likely get an opening date soon so stay tuned.

We now have more details about the new attraction, Villain-Con Minion Blast, along with dining and shopping in the land. Keep reading for all the new details about Minions Land!

Villain-Con Minion BlastMinions Land Villain Con ride

Villain-Con Minion Blast is the BRAND NEW attraction in the land where guests can put their skills to the test competing against each other in an interactive gaming experience. Villain-Con was a focal point of the origin story of the Minions which was revealed in Illumination’s fifth movie Minions. This film is set before the Minions meet Gru and showcases their quest to find a villain to work for which leads them to Villain-Con.

This attraction sounds like it is similar in style to Disney’s Toy Story Midway Mania especially based on the ride preview above. I imagine we’ll see plenty of the villains featured in the Minions film. Perhaps a potential appearance from Scarlet Overkill, the world’s first female villain, voiced by Sandra Bullock will be a part of the attraction?

After the attraction, guests exist into the new retail store called Evil Stuff featuring Villain-Con and Minions merchandise. More details about Villain-Con Minion Blast will be revealed soon!
