Disney just shared the runDisney event calendar with race and registration dates for the 2024-2025 season of runDisney, a race series inspired by the magic of Disney.
The events during this season include onsite events at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort as well as virtual races where you can participate from almost anywhere. Among the races that were announced is a new event that will take place at the Disneyland Resort in September 2024!

runDisney New 2024 Disneyland Event
Disneyland is already hosting the runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon event in January of this year (see dates for that event and runDisney calendar below) and now Disney has announced another runDisney event on one of the less busy weekends of the year.
In 2024, Disneyland will be hosting a 2024 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend. The event will take place from September 5-8, 2024, and will offer four days of events themed to the Halloween season including yoga, Kids Races, 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon and Challenge.
Registration for club runDisney Gold and Platinum members begins on February 6, 2024, and general registration for this event begins on February 13, 2024.

What This New Event Means For Disneyland Halloween
This new Halloween event comes to Disneyland during an interesting time of year when the Disneyland Halloween season is just kicking off. In our best times to visit Disneyland article we specifically mention September as one of the less crowded months of the year and the best time to visit Halloween as opposed to October which is one of the times to avoid Disneyland.
This new weekend will help to draw crowds to what is one of the less busy times of year at the parks due to kids just going back to school. We can also now deduce that Halloween at Disneyland will likely start the Friday of this event, September 6, 2024, if the trend continues from previous recent years when Halloween began on the first Friday of September. We could also see Halloween starting on August 30, 2024 but this would be earlier than in previous years. It would be smart of them to start Halloween on that August date to spread the first day of Halloween crowd away from the runDisney weekend.
With the popularity of the Oogie Boogie Bash special event at Disneyland we wouldn't be surprised if that event and the Halloween celebration began even earlier next year and beyond but up until this point Disney has resisted expanded the celebration even though it is now the most popular of the year. This year Oogie Boogie Bash sold out within hours of going on sale across three days of controlled sales. Suffice to say that event is popular and expanding guests at Disneyland will only increase the demand for that event.
