The new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge opening at Magic Kingdom in Adventureland will be called The Beak and Barrel.

We still do not have an opening date although Disney Parks Blog said that information was coming soon. Currently the only opening detail we have is that The Beak and Barrel will open “later this year” in Adventureland.

Storyline for The Beak and Barrel Incorporates Famous Parrot

The story for the new Pirates of the Caribbean incorporates two new characters: Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn and Rummy the talking parrot. The lounge was established by this legendary pirate rumrunner and her trusted parrot companion.

Rummy serves as the tavern’s quartermaster and keeps an eye on the bar from his roost high atop the bar. Rummy is inspired by the original Barker Bird that previously sat above the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance. He will be sharing tales of piracy and leading the bar in a “rousing toast or two.”

The design of The Beak and Barrel is inspired by the storyline that this lounge was once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers and is now known as “The Mess.” Long tables fill the room with an anchor covered in dripping wax hanging above.

A large bar sits on one side of the room and is built from “salvaged portions of a curses shipwreck” with a skull-shaped stern centerpiece. Guests can watch for the Enchanted Rum Bottle which was gifted to Merry by a character called Tia Dalma and serves as a source for the specialty brews. Also keep an eye out for Rummy hobbling along the bar’s ledge as he greets guests.

Captains’ Quarters Area Offers Different Design

A second room called the Captains’ Quarters is inspired by finer decor which was once the quarters of the Spanish Comandante. The space has still been marked by pirates with the fine artwork and drapery showing evidence of blades and bun marks.

A space above the fireplace shows five miniature ships in glass bottles rumored to represent pirates from every corner of the world. These glass bottles will “come alive and engage in fearsome battle” which adds a fun detail to this area of the lounge.

The Pirates of the Caribbean is the second new lounge to open at Walt Disney World this year with GEO-82 opening June 4th at EPCOT.
