Big Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween Party CHANGES and Additions Hinted in Disney Survey

Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland only continues to grow in popularity each year with tickets consistently selling out which resulted in Disneyland extending the party season into August this year.

It is typical for Disney to send surveys to guests after they attend ticketed events and sometimes these surveys give clues for new offerings that Disney is considering.

We recently received one of these surveys after attending Oogie Boogie Bash and it hinted at some changes that could be in the works along with new additions that could be added to the entertainment line up!

Oogie Boogie Survey Reveals Potential Changes

Oogie Boogie Bash survey

The survey distributed to some recent Oogie Boogie Bash attendees hints at a few potential changes and offerings that could be coming soon. The ones that stood out most to me were the Halloween themed rides, Nightmare Before Christmas Stage show, Hocus Pocus stage show, and the general increase of entertainment offerings. Thank you to our friend Bridget of CaliforniaDisneyBliss for sharing this with us.

There is also a mention of increase of character offerings and greater emphasis on shorter wait times. These two offerings are the easiest for Disney to implement. What draws my attention there is seeing the call out for shorter wait times which could happen if Disney extends the party dates even further or reduces capacity for existing party dates.

But let's get into the most interesting piece of speculation from this survey, the possibility for MORE entertainment and Halloween rides!

New Halloween Stage Shows for Oogie Boogie Bash?

One of the most exciting possibilities about this survey is that it indicates Disney is considering a Hocus Pocus stage show or a Nightmare Before Christmas stage show.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World has stage shows featuring characters from both of these films. The Sanderson Sisters are part of a popular stage show that takes place in front of Cinderella's Castle and includes appearances from other characters like Maleficent and Dr. Facilier. This popular Hocus Pocus show is a hit over at Walt Disney World and I would love to see a similar show happen at Oogie Boogie Bash.

As for a Nightmare Before Christmas show, we see a similar element of this exist at Walt Disney World with a fireworks show hosted by Jack Skellington. The storyline of this show is that Jack is there to tell a scary story about a trick or treat adventure featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy.

Disney California Adventure has the perfect spot for a stage show in the now empty Hyperion Theater which we often call one of the most underutilized spaces in the park.

The survey also hinted at a more generic option like more fireworks, parades, or stage shows. I would love to see the return of a special Halloween themed World of Color which was introduced in 2019 but is no longer part of the event.

Adding More Halloween Rides to Disney California Adventure

Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark

The other interesting detail on this survey to call out is the possibility about adding more Halloween rides to the party.

Currently, the main themed Halloween ride at Oogie Boogie Bash is Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark which transforms into a monster theme at sunset. The two smaller Cars Land rides also get small Halloween overlays with themed song and decorations. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree transforms into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters changes to Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

More Halloween rides could easily be added if it follows the simple theming that the Cars Land rides use with a heavy presence of Halloween decor and an updated song list. We could see this happening at many of the rides along Pixar Pier which tends to be the most lacking in terms of Halloween theming during Oogie Boogie Bash.

If we wanted to dream big, we could also think about how Radiator Springs Racers could receive a Halloween overlay that matches the aesthetic of the land. Considering that Cars Land is the most impressive decorated area in the park, this would be a slam dunk with many guests. The interior of the dark ride portion could receive a Halloween theme whether it's decorating the town for Halloween or giving the Disney Cars costumes similar to what we see with the character interactions during the parties.

Disneyland could also take inspiration from Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and give rides aesthetic lighting to match the party and a simple music change. This would be a bit more low effort but perhaps more realistic than a complete Radiator Springs Racers Halloween theme.

I love a good holiday ride theme which is one of the reasons I think Disneyland does holidays best!

Why Disney Should Expand Oogie Boogie Bash Entertainment

All of these options would be great for expanding Oogie Boogie Bash entertainment especially for a theme park like Disneyland which is often frequented by locals. Upgrading the elements of the party and including new offerings would help prevent the party from becoming stale for repeat guests.

I also love to see when Disney goes all out for their ticketed events especially when you consider the high cost for tickets to these events especially if you have a large family. While surveys aren't always a promise of things to come, it is positive to see that Disneyland is considering expanding some offerings for this popular Halloween party which is one of the most in demand events all year at the park.
