New Epcot Park Center Wows at Night With Incredible Light Display in World Celebration

Epcot has had construction walls covering the middle of the park for a long time. Now, Disney has removed a large chunk of these walls to reveal the new World Celebration Gardens. This area features lots of seating areas and beautiful garden space.

The area also comes alive at night. Keep reading for a photo tour of the area lit up at night as well as an update on the CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCorePlaza opening!

As we shared in our guide to the Disney100 celebration at Epcot, the new Walt Disney dreamer statue is also now visible to guests in the area. Also nearby, the Moana Journey of Water experience opened earlier this fall and also looks incredible at night. Luminous The Symphony of Us, the new nighttime spectacular at Epcot, also debuted yesterday. You can see all details about this show in our guide to Epcot fireworks!

World Celebrations Garden Lighting

The World Celebration Gardens is illuminated at night with several different types of lights that immerse the area in beautiful colors. The lights of the area can be synchronized with Spaceship Earth, as you can see below.

The lights on Spaceship Earth at Epcot were my personal highlight of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary and so its great to see that not only they are keeping these around on Spaceship Earth but leaning into the entire area as a canvas for these lights.

The pavement is lit up with strips of color that shift and change throughout the night. This opening is a big deal for both the aesthetic of Epcot but also for guest flow. For too long the middle of the park has been carved up by construction walls. It's so exciting to finally see that the additions that were worked on for so long being completed.

The posts surrounding the garden also light up and illuminate the area in beautiful colors, as you can see in the pictures below:

You'll also find more decorative lighting in the bushes, from hanging lamps, and more. These benches and sitting areas within the new park center will be a great place to come and sit during the Epcot festivals.

These light rods and fixtures throughout the area all move in sync with the lights on Epcot Spaceship Earth.

Epcot Communicore Hall and Plaza Update

While the new CommuniCore Hall and CommunicCore Plaza were expected to open in 2023, a Walt Disney World press release shared an update that the areas will now officially open in 2024. No specific month has yet been shared, and when these spaces open, they will be dedicated to Epcot festivals.

This CommuniCore Hall area will be a space that has rotating offerings based on the Epcot festivals. We are interested to see which festival this space opens with.
