New Encanto Entertainment Offering Coming to Disneyland for Limited Time

Disneyland’s live entertainment is a quintessential part of the Disneyland experience that sets Disney apart from other theme parks. We have expressed our disappointment more than once that the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure continues to remain empty.

Disney posted a casting announcement today that may hint at that changing soon or at least the possibility of more entertainment being expanded at Disneyland focusing on a fan favorite film.

Keep reading for the full casting announcement and my speculation on what the entertainment might be.

Limited Time Encanto Offering Coming Soon

Disney posted on their Disney Auditions website that they’re accepting submissions for a “limited-run entertainment offering at Disney California Adventure.”

The casting call is for vocalists for Mirabel from the Encanto film who resembles the character from the film and is experienced in contemporary musical theatre mezzo-soprano.

There is also a casting call on the website for Isabela and Luisa lookalikes which are Mirabel’s sisters from the popular film. This casting call does not ask for vocalists, however, and just detail a character casting assignment. It is unclear whether this casting call is associated with the limited-time Encanto offering but it seems likely since the casting calls are both being posted during similar time frames.

What Encanto Offering Could Be Coming to Disneyland?

Mirabel and Bruno in new Encanto show

We do not have any confirmed details yet about what this limited-time offering could be and where it would take place in Disney California Adventure.

One possibility is that we’ll see the same “¡Celebración Encanto!” show that debuted at EPCOT at Walt Disney World over the summer be brought to Disneyland. This is an interactive, sing-a-long style show and not a retelling of the Encanto story. But it is engaging and celebrates the popular music from the film. This would fit nicely in the Hollywood Land stage which is often empty.

But since there is a possibility for Isabel and Luisa being a part of this offering based on the casting calls, this wouldn’t make as much sense since this show only has the characters of Bruno and Mirabel featured.

Another possibility is this will be some type of limited offering that will take place at Oogie Boogie Bash. At past events, Bruno was a popular meet and greet character. Could this hint at a treat trail themed after Encanto? But the treat trails only feature villains so this wouldn’t make much sense. All the entertainment offerings for Oogie Boogie Bash are centered around villains so what role would Mirabel have?

And my favorite speculation, but maybe the most unlikely, is that this will be part of a retelling of Encanto in The Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure that has remained empty since Rogers The Musical came to an end. The reason I think this is unlikely is because we are only seeing one casting call for a Mirabel vocalist. When Rogers The Musical casting call went out, it asked for a large number of vocalists, not just one. But you never know, we can keep hoping since it is such a waste for The Hyperion to remain empty.
