Breakout Snack Hit of Lunar New Year at Disneyland

Disney California Adventure Lunar New Year procession

Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure takes place now through February 22, 2026. This event has increased in prominence over time and is now a tentpole, four-week, annual festival on Disney California Adventure’s calendar.

This year’s event features not only limited-time food and beverages, but also a procession starring Mulan, crafts, merchandise collections, and meet & greets with Mickey Mouse and friends dressed in traditional Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese clothing. New for this year, guests can meet Red Panda Mei from Turning Red!

Where food is concerned, though, one Lunar New Year food cart this year consistently draws big crowds: Tanghulu.

Tanghulu is a traditional Chinese style of candied fruit covered in hardened sugar. By the looks of the crowds we saw waiting for the Tanghulu cart, this might become a new staple of the event.

Tanghulu candied fruit

When we tried Tanghulu during Lunar New Year, the sugar was initially hard and crisp when we first bit into it. We found the fruit inside to taste very fresh and preserved. After leaving it for 15 minutes, it got very sticky.

What to Know About Tanghulu at Disney California Adventure

Tanghulu cart sign

Tanghulu has its own cart at Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year 2026 after being a smaller part of another menu in previous years. Three types of skewers are available at Disneyland’s Lunar New Year: grape for $8, mandarin for $9.50, or strawberry for $9.50.

The mandarin and strawberry skewers had completely sold out by noon. Only grape skewers remained. We are unsure if they restock for the day after that they sell out of if that is all that they will have.

You can find the Tanghulu cart, along with many other Lunar New Year snack booths, in a festival area along the Performance Corridor promenade between Buena Vista Street and Pixar Pier. The Tanghulu cart specifically is located just across from the main entrance to Cars Land.

Food line at Disney California Adventure

As you can see from the photo above, festival food can be very popular at Disney California Adventure. Tanghulu is just one of the many unique food items available, including a Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron, a Taro Vietnamese Cold Brew, and lots more. In addition to the Performance Corridor, other food is available in Paradise Gardens Park and at select locations around the park.

We recommend looking over the Lunar New Year menus before your visit for an idea to scope out all the offerings. We tried 10 of these limited-time items, and you can find our recommendations here.
