UPDATE! Work on New Disneyland Gates Starting Soon – See Details, First Photos From Testing

Disneyland is testing out new entry gates that the Disneyland Resort previously shared will be installed later this year. A new entry gate has been installed at the Disney California Adventure entrance, and testing for it starts today.

The new gates, made by the same company that created the new entry gates for Disneyland Paris, will be tested for a limited time before the addition is fully introduced to the parks. These new gates will be ADA-compliant so that guests in ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers can use them.

Keep reading for more details on these new Disneyland entry gates and the changes you can expect! We have new details on when work will begin below.

Disneyland has been recently working to relocate the planters in the area outside the entrance gates, and we suspect that this movement likely has something to do with this larger project to improve the entry process for guests.

Update! Work on these new entry gates will begin on October 7, 2024. According to Scott Gustin on X, this is when the first group of entry gates for Disneyland Park on the Disneyland west side will be closing.

You can see details on how these new gates will work and where they will be installed in our previous report below!

A new entry gate is now being tested at the entrance to Disney California Adventure that will open automatically when a ticket is scanned and take/validate a guest's photo. These new gates will also feature a MagicBand+ access point, and Cast Members will be present at the gates to assist guests if needed. These new changes will hopefully improve the flow of guests coming into the parks and make the process of scanning in easier.

The testing period for the gate at Disney California Adventure will take place for a limited time so that Disney can gather information from the experience of guests using the gates before they are installed on a larger scale. See a photo of the new gates that are being tested below:

“We continue to invest in the overall guest experience, and our updated, enhanced entry gates will really elevate the process of arriving at our theme parks,” Kevin Gidden, General Manager, Arrival Experience, said, “The test entry gate installed at Disney California Adventure Park will enable our teams to get hands-on experience that will help inform the final install beginning later this year.”

According to the Theme Park Insider, the project is expected to reach completion in 2025, and the new gates will be installed in phases at the two theme parks as well as the Downtown Disney Monorail entrance that takes guests to Disneyland Park. Scott Gustin shared these photos of the new entry gates via X (formerly Twitter) that were released by Disney.
