Disney shared new info about the highly anticipated project.

Monsters, Inc. Land at Disney World

Monstropolis is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
The marquee attraction of Monstropolis will be a new suspended roller coaster taking riders through the door vault inside the Monsters, Inc. factory. Within the story, Mike is taking us for a ride to test his hypothesis of combining two of the city’s sources of energy: human laughs + screams.

First Look at Monstropolis Food

Monstropolis will contain two new restaurants, and Disney shared a first look at the food coming to each eatery.
Harryhausen’s will be a table service restaurant recreating the sushi eatery from the Monsters, Inc. movie. An octopus Audio-Animatronics figure will appear to create guests’ food in the corner.

The menu at Harryhausen’s will specialize in sushi, but other food served here will include alkaline ramen noodles, tonkotsu broth, and green eggs.

Disney’s culinary teams are creating the food for Monstropolis with a “grossly fun” approach, as they call it, like with these fish cakes in the shape of eyeballs.

This menu item wasn’t identified by name in Disney’s reveal, but it looks to be either fried fish sticks or fried chicken, sliced in a unique way to adhere to the monster theming.
Harryhausen’s will reside in the former home of Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, which closed in 2025.

Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will be a quick service restaurant named after the mascot of Fear Tech, a rival school to Monsters University. This dining location will serve Blort, a specialty drink, pictured above. It’s a purple frozen soda with green apple foam.

Within the Monstropolis story, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is a place where college students from several different neighboring universities hang out after class. Imagineers were particularly inspired by a frame from Monsters University showing Mike Wazowski with a can of Blort and a slice of pizza.
Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will be located in the building that was previously occupied by PizzeRizzo, which closed in 2025.
New Sneak Peek of Monstropolis Attraction

Welcome to Monstropolis will be an indoor, media-based show hosted by Mike and Sulley, and featuring some of their Oozma Kappa fraternity brothers from Monsters University. This attraction takes the place of the former Muppet*Vision 3D, which closed in 2025.
Disney shared new concept artwork for Welcome to Monstropolis, below, joining the previously revealed artwork above.

Welcome to Monstropolis will be performed in a venue named the Glob Theater. This building was previously home to Muppet*Vision 3D, which closed in 2025.

A bright marquee will flank the entrance to the Glob Theater, letting families know that the production is “a scarefree theatrical extravaganza.”

The pre-show holding area prior to entering the auditorium will be designed as a theater lobby. If you can picture it, this was the same room where guests waited before entering the theater for Muppet*Vision.
The Muppets’ various showbiz props, costumes, and crates have been replaced with a more distinguished interior design fitting of an upscale venue in a theater arts district. Television monitors hanging from the ceiling throughout the space are gone, seemingly replaced by new monitors above the auditorium doors.

A concessions stand will be at the front of the preshow space, but this may or may not be just for show rather than a functioning food & beverage opportunity. The “Prestonio” poster on the right is a parody of the poster for Pixar’s 2008 non-monster short film Presto.

A poster in the preshow room teases “the one-monster sensation,” Noodles, who guests will see inside as an Audio-Animatronics character.

Here’s a closer look at Noodles’s Audio-Animatronics likeness, zoomed in from the first Welcome to Monstropolis concept art. A sensation indeed!

Monstropolis Phase 1 will open in 2027. Construction progress is ongoing as Disney continues to transform this section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios with monster-inspired architecture and details.

Progress also continues on the doors roller coaster. Track pieces are now being installed at the site of this highly anticipated thrill ride.
Take a deep dive into the Imagineers’ unique design approach to creating the monster world and what we learned during our hardhat tour of the Monstropolis construction site.

Monstropolis isn’t the only major new land opening at Disney World in 2027. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Tropical Americas will also open that year with new Encanto and Indiana Jones rides.
