How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

Epic Universe How to Train Dragon

The How to Train Your Dragon area is a result of Universal's partnership with DreamWorks. We have already seen DreamWorks continue to expand with the new area coming to Universal Studios Florida and the new Universal park coming to Texas.

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk is a new land at Epic Universe where the entire focus is on these popular films. This new land will include an attraction where guests can soar with dragons in a world based on the Viking adventures from the franchise.

This area looks to be the space in Epic Universe that targeted towards families with younger children. In addition to the dragon themed roller coaster, there will be outdoor play areas and a theatre. Keep reading for ALL ride, show, food details, and more.

Isle of Berk Themed Land

how to train dragon concept art

The How to Train Your Dragon land is themed after the isle of Berk from the films where Hiccup, Toothless, and the rest of the vikings and dragons live. In the films, Berk features rocky arches, cliffs, waterfalls, streams and large forests. This is an impressive choice for the theming of this new land as this will all carry over nicely into the theme park.

In the films, the main village called Hooligan is where all the vikings live. The village is composed of large structures which are all themed around dragons. After the first film when the vikings make peace with the dragons, they add “Dragon Birdhouses” for the dragons to live in. The entire village is bright and colorful featuring many different species of dragons.

This new land has been created with architecture featuring hand-carved details, lush landscaping, and high rolling hills that surround the dragon houses and local establishments. Guests will see activity everywhere they look from “from active dragons in their natural habitats and sheep attempting to disguise themselves as Terrible Terror dragons to sporadic bouts of fire.”

The first thing guests will see in Berk will look like it came straight from the film with a lagoon featuring two 40-foot-tall Viking statues. You can see this in the concept art above, this land looks truly breathtaking!

The land itself will be an interactive experience, as you can see from the concept art above, the “Snow Wraith” will spray guests with water as they walk past.
