Heads Up! Some Disneyland Entertainment Pausing and Higher Crowds Expected These Dates

This summer at Disneyland, the 70th anniversary festivities are in full swing, with special entertainment, decor, and more available across the resort. As we are nearing the start of the Halloween celebration at Disneyland, some of these 70th anniversary offerings will be ending, along with the validity window of the special ticket offer. We previously wrote about why now is a good window of time to visit Disneyland during its 70th anniversary, with its full offerings and the new Walt Disney show and additions to “it's a small world” now available.

Make sure you take advantage of these last few weeks of 70th anniversary summer entertainment before the Halloween celebration begins! Also, beware of the dates when crowds will be higher, leading up to the end date of the special ticket offer. Details below…

Disneyland Summer Offerings Ending Soon

Right now at Disneyland, you can enjoy the full scope of 70th anniversary entertainment offerings, including the Paint the Night parade, Wondrous Journey fireworks, new World of Color show, The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, and Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade. There are also some other smaller offerings available for a limited time this summer, like the Pixar Pals Playtime Party and Stitch’s Intergalactic Beach Party Blast in Disneyland Park, appearances by Rex from Toy Story in Disney California Adventure, and limited-time treats like the new peach Dole Whip at Tropical Hideaway and New Orleans-inspired sno-balls at Royal Street Veranda.

As we previously reported, some of the 70th anniversary entertainment and offerings will temporarily pause to make way for the Halloween celebration at Disneyland. This includes the Wondrous Journeys fireworks, The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, and the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade. Some 70th anniversary decorative touches and other offerings will still be available during Halloween, like the MagicBand+ interaction points and Key to Disneyland scavenger hunt.

On the Disneyland calendar, the Wondrous Journeys fireworks and The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade are on the schedule through August 21. Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade is only on the schedule right now through August 3.

The validity window of the Disneyland summer 70th anniversary ticket offer will also be ending soon on August 14. This offer is no longer available for purchase now, but if you have remaining days left on your ticket, you will want to use them before they expire. Be prepared that crowd levels will likely be higher in the couple of days leading up to the final date of validity, as visitors will be squeezing in their last visit. It's typical to see an increase in crowds like this during the final days of a special ticket offer, like we saw earlier this year when the spring offer ended. We expect an uptick in Disneyland crowd levels from around August 11-14.

Starting August 22, the resort will switch gears to spooky season. Disneyland will be decked out with Halloween decor, the Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular will play, and popular seasonal overlays like Haunted Mansion Holiday and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark will return. Disneyland also recently announced all of the special Halloween foods that will be available during the celebration!
