Disneyland Repurposes Former Shop Space As Much-Needed Themed Dining Seating Area

Disneyland recently finished a major construction project that introduced a new expanded outdoor queue for the Haunted Mansion and a brand new retail shop by the attraction’s exit inspired by Madame Leota. This shop is now the new home for merchandise themed to the Haunted Mansion and The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was previously offered at Port Royal Curios and Curiosities near Royal Street Veranda.

Port Royal Curious and Curiosities recently closed, and the space has now been quickly repurposed with a new look as a much-needed indoor seating area for New Orleans Square. We recently reported on this closure and how we anticipate that this may be a temporary setup before a potential larger construction project takes place in this area of the park. Keep reading for a photo tour of the new seating space…

New Seating Space New Orleans Square

Royal Street Jazz Club" new seating

The former Port Royal Curious and Curiosities shop is now a seating space is now called “Royal Street Jazz Club.” The transformation from the old shop space to this themed seating area took place pretty quickly in a matter of days.

As the name suggests, the seating area is themed as a jazz club with details like jazz posters and a pretty fun faux bar as the centerpiece of the space.

It’s dark and cool inside the space with lots of seating available, including seating on stools at the faux bar, which you can see below!

This new seating area extends the seating area of Royal Street Veranda, which is only 5-6 tables in the immediate space outside the counter. While there is additional seating further into the land at Tiana’s Palace, Royal Street Jazz Club adds another convenient area in New Orleans Square where guests can relax or enjoy their food.

  1. I’d rather have the original store than another seating area. I’m still mad that they did this to the Indiana Jones Outpost, which never returned. Not to mention Aladdin’s Oasis for the Tiki Tropical Hideaway. While some of that Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise can be sold at the new Haunted Mansion store, it’s much smaller and can’t hold as much as this location did. This is another troubling decision by Disney.
