Disneyland's Lunar New Year celebration has begun, featuring special entertainment, rare character meet and greets, merchandise, and menus celebrating Asian cuisine. The foods, featuring Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean favorites, can be found at marketplaces in Paradise Gardens Park and select dining locations across Disney California Adventure.
We were there on the first day of Disneyland's Lunar New Year celebration hosted at a media event to try some of these foods! Below in our Disneyland Lunar New Year food review, we will share the marketplace foods we tried and our thoughts on which items stood out.
You can read our full Disneyland Lunar New Year guide for more details on this year's celebration! Also check out the recently announced new food items for Black History Month and the recent set of four new food items that we just tried at Disneyland.

Disneyland Lunar New Year Food Review—Taro Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee
The star of the show out of this year's marketplace offerings was the Taro Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee offered at Bamboo Blessings. This new drink features Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Vietnamese-style Coffee, cocoa powder, and condensed milk garnished with a taro chocolate sweet cream. Before we even tried this drink, we heard it had received rave reviews, and it absolutely lived up to these!
In addition to the beautiful purple color of the taro chocolate sweet cream, the drink's taste was heavenly. The coffee was strong but perfectly balanced by the sweet cream, which had just the right amount of sweetness without being overpowering. Each flavor featured in the drink shone through strongly and clearly. To get a good amount of the sweet cream in your sip, we recommend drinking directly from the side of the cup rather than from a straw.
This coffee is an incredible new offering, and several have expressed that it even rivals the beloved Cold Brew Black Caf from Galaxy's Edge. This is a standout offering that you must try during your Lunar New Year celebration visit!
Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron
Another incredible new offering was the Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron also offered at Bamboo Blessings, which has strawberry buttercream with a milk tea center. While Disney California Adventure has offered some impressive macarons during its recent festivals, this one stands out in particular. In addition to being perfectly photographable with its cute Mickey shape, it's also quite large, making it great for sharing.
The strawberry flavor is very bold and clear and doesn't come across as artificial-tasting at all. It has a great crunch, a lovely and smooth filling, and a milk tea filling at the center that adds the perfect little bit of variety to the treat. The flavors and textures all blend together harmoniously!
Both the Taro Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee and the Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron are offered at Bamboo Blessings, so this particular marketplace is definitely a standout this year.
Disneyland Lunar New Year Food Review—Fried Lemongrass Chicken Dumplings
We also tried the new Fried Lemongrass Chicken Dumplings with plum sauce from Wrapped With Love. These have a great crunch and come with a very sweet plum sauce.
The lemongrass chicken dumplings have a nice, refreshing combination of flavors, as it's the perfect combination of sweet and savory between the filling and the sauce. This is another item we would recommend trying! The order comes with three dumplings.
BBQ Pork Bun
One of the items we were very excited to try was the BBQ Pork Bun with kimchi mayo and garlic chile crunch from Prosperity Bao & Buns. I really enjoyed the spicy kimchi mayo on top of the bun, and I found this was the most filling food that I kept reaching for.
The middle was a little bit dry, but it overall had great flavoring. I enjoyed the crunch of the chili flakes on top, and the bun had a light and fluffy texture.
Quesabirria Eggroll
Next up for our Disneyland Lunar New Year food review, we tried the Quesabirria Eggroll with guajillo pepper consomé from Lucky 8 Lantern.
This is a pretty significant size, and we thought it was juicy and flavorful with a nice crunch. The guajillo pepper consomé also paired nicely with the eggroll and was not too overpowering in its flavor.
Disneyland Lunar New Year Food Review—Spicy Fried Rice
We tried the new Spicy Fried Rice from Red Dragon Spice Traders, which came with tofu and crispy peas. The rice itself is flavored nicely, but the tofu was the main focus of the dish. Beware that certain bites of tofu can get quite spicy! Overall, we thought this dish was well-seasoned and an interesting plant-based option for guests to enjoy.
Be sure to try some of these Disneyland Lunar New Year food items during your next visit, especially the can't-miss treats like the Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron and Taro Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee!
