Starting next month, when crowds wind down after the holidays, there is typically a greater number of Disneyland ride closures at the parks. Disneyland likes to use this slower period to take care of any necessary refurbishments, and there are also a few seasonal closures you can always expect during this time.

“it’s a small world” Holiday Ride Closure
The “it’s a small world” Holiday overlay usually kicks off at the start of the Christmas celebration and runs a few weeks into January. This year, the closure to install the “it’s a small world” Holiday overlay started on October 30, 2025, and the ride reopened with the start of the Christmas celebration on November 14.

This overlay is typically open for a bit longer than Haunted Mansion Holiday, which runs for a good portion of the year, starting in August for the Halloween celebration. We also have the start date of that closure, which you can see here. They stagger these closures a bit so that they can keep more key attractions open at the same time.
We now have the closure start date for “it’s a small world” Holiday next month. While the Christmas celebration officially ends after January 7, “it’s a small world” Holiday will stay open a couple more weeks. The ride will close to remove the seasonal overlay on January 26, 2026. There is no reopening date visible yet on the refurbishment calendar.
It looks like during this closure, the teams at Disneyland may also take the time to make some other storage and electrical improvements. We’re seeing some building permits filed to create an 854 sq ft uncovered storage yard, install 59 ln. ft. x 10 ft. high storage racks, and replace existing lighting cabinets with new relay panels and associated electrical.

In addition to the Haunted Mansion closure, there are also a handful of other closures coming up next month. On January 26, a new closure starts for the Sailing Ship Columbia. There will also be three simultaneous closures happening in Pixar Pier next month for Lamplight Lounge and Lamplight Lounge – Boardwalk Dining, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, and the Incredicoaster. Grizzly River Run also begins its seasonal multi-month refurbishment soon.
