The ride is on the schedule on the Disneyland website starting today. We assume that they opened this experience early so that it's ready for the kickoff of the Oogie Boogie Bash parties, which start this week on August 17.

The overlay is considered a separate experience for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, meaning that you can book the ride twice in one day—once for the normal version, and once for the after dark version! Both versions of this ride are extremely popular, so be sure to make them a priority in your Disneyland Lightning Lane Multi Pass strategy.

This version of the ride is a lot of fun! It picks up where the normal ride leaves off, as all of the monsters are on the loose after being freed from their cages. Rocket enlists your help to act as “bait” for a giant fire dragon so he can save baby Groot, who has been left behind. Be warned, however, that the ride may be a little too intense for young children.
