Disney World Virtual Queues Are Changing When Park Hopping Restrictions Are Lifted

Many major changes are coming soon to Disney World on January 9, 2024, including the removal of park hopping restrictions at the parks and park reservations no longer being required for date-based tickets. With these changes taking place, joining an attraction Virtual Queue will also be different starting on that date.

You can read more about why January 9 is important at Disney World and all of the big changes happening that day in our guide!

Virtual Queues are offered for certain attractions in high demand and allow guests to use the My Disney Experience app to request to experience that attraction later in the day. Standby queues are not available when a Virtual Queue is in place. At Disney World, the attractions currently utilizing a Virtual Queue are the popular TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.

Disney World Virtual Queue Change Details

Disney World Virtual Queue changes TRON Lightcycle

Starting January 9, guests will be able to join one Virtual Queue at any theme park where they have admission at 7 am, and guests can hold one attraction virtual queue at a time.

Right now, with park reservations still in place, guests would need a reservation for the park the attraction is located at to join the 7 am Virtual Queue, so you would need a Magic Kingdom park reservation to join the TRON virtual queue and an EPCOT park reservation to join the Guardians Cosmic Rewind queue.

Guests do not have to be in a theme park to request to join the Virtual Queue at 7 am, but they will need to be in the theme park to request to join the Virtual Queue starting at 1 pm.

Certain admission types may still require a theme park reservation to join a Virtual Queue.
