Magic Kingdom is undergoing major construction that will continue for quite some time. Guests will notice construction walls blocking off the Rivers of America, which is now closed permanently, along with Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island. This entire area is being rebuilt into a new Disney Pixar Cars-themed area, which will be called Piston Peak National Park.

This construction paves the way for the first-ever Villains-inspired land, which is also why Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently closed until 2026, with no official reopening date announced yet. Due to this work being done, the Walt Disney World Railroad is only operating as a shuttle on one side of Magic Kingdom for the next few years.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is another attraction in Magic Kingdom that is closed until 2026 as it receives major enhancements and upgrades.

According to the Disney World website, Mickey’s PhilharMagic will be temporarily closed beginning November 1 for routine refurbishment and is “expected to reopen later in the month.” As part of the closure, the theater seats will be replaced. Currently, the Disney World calendar shows the attraction reopening on November 23, which is right before the busy Thanksgiving week. You can read more about the highest crowd level days in our Disney World crowd calendar.

The Jingle Cruise returns to Magic Kingdom for the holiday season starting November 3. Thankfully, the ride will not close for this transformation.

Kali River Rapids

As Disney works on the upcoming Tropical Americas land in Animal Kingdom, locations near the DINOSAUR attraction will close as DinoLand, USA shuts down for good. Trilo-Bites and Dino-Bite Snacks are now permanently closed, which has caused a shake-up in quick-service restaurants in the land, including the temporary closure of Harambe Market until early next year to prepare for an expansion to carry some of DinoLand, USA’s previous food items. Read more about these new food changes in our separate article.

Kali River Rapids is closed for its annual winter refurbishment through December 2025. There is no official reopening date shared yet, but the goal likely is to reopen Kali River Rapids before DINOSAUR closes permanently on February 2, 2026.

Animation Courtyard

Hollywood Studios is also experiencing its own construction with Star Wars: Launch Bay being replaced by a new Disney animation experience, along with the temporary closure of Disney Jr. Play and Dance! This is part of a large overhaul to the entire Animation Courtyard area to transform the space.

The area is expected to reopen in 2026, introducing a new experience called The Magic of Disney Animation with the reopening of Disney Jr. Play and Dance! You will notice construction walls up in this area of the theme park and the removal of the previous Animation Courtyard arch, which is pictured above.

As for more brief closures, Vacation Fun Mickey & Minnie Mouse Short is closed and is expected to reopen later this year, according to the Disney World website. No official reopening date has been shared, nor is the attraction showing any hours on the calendar quite yet.

Remy epcot ride

Out of the other three theme parks, EPCOT is the one currently free from any major construction. A pretty big pivot from the last few years!

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be closing from November 10-13, and will reopen on November 14 to transform the attraction from a 3D experience to a 2D experience.

Blizzard Beach height requirements

Disney World closes one of its water parks during the winter months, so Blizzard Beach Water Park is currently closed until 2026.
