We Just Tried Disney’s New Adult-Only Theme Park Bar

Walt Disney World does not have many places that are adults-only, especially in the theme park, so this new lounge has created a buzz as Disney recently opened this kids-free space. This new lounge, located inside Spaceship Earth AT EPCOT, offers views of both the World Celebration gardens and World Showcase Lagoon.

GEO-82 is now officially open, so we had to go check it out to see if it’s worth the hype. This was a very hard reservation to get! So the demand, at least in this initial opening period, is definitely there.

GEO-82’s Hidden Entrance Might Be Intentional

GEO82 Disney World

The entrance to GEO-82 is pretty hidden. I actually had a hard time finding it at first. You will find the entrance to GEO-82 in the area guests explore after they exit the Spaceship Earth attraction. Look for the GEO-82 sign right at the doors you enter and leave this area from. We walked right past it!

This low-key entrance might be intentional, especially since this is the first theme park lounge that is adults only. This prevents guests who are unaware of the policy from entering and being surprised when their kids are unable to enter. The entrance of GEO-82 is definitely catered to an audience that already knows it’s there.

GEO82 Lounge

The hallway and entrance to GEO-82 reminded me so much of the Disney Cruise lounges, which often utilize this similar design. Once we checked in, we were led to an elevator to take us up to the lounge.

You will be offered a cool towel with essential oils to clean your hands with as you enter the waiting area. The waiting area for GEO-82 gives a glimpse at the design of the lounge that is inspired by Spaceship Earth.

You can also get a sneak peek of the menu while you wait and view the specialty bourbon flight.

GEO-82 Offers Great EPCOT Views.. Depending On Your Seat

Geo 82

This is the view that GEO-82 offers of EPCOT as you look out from Spaceship Earth.

GEO-82

The quality of your view will depend on where you are seated, since GEO-82 offers a variety of seating options. For the most part, you will have a good view as long as you’re not seated at the bar.

GEO 82 Bar

We were seated at the bar, and while we loved getting the chance to chat with the amazing bartenders, the view was lacking. If you are seated at the bar, you will have your back to the windows overlooking EPCOT, which really detracts from the experience. I was pretty disappointed with our seating arrangement since the view of EPCOT was something I was looking forward to.

I would recommend that when you check in that you request to be seated at a regular table instead of the bar if the view matters to you!

As for the fireworks viewing, I can’t imagine the view from GEO-82 is that great. Even if you are seated right in front of the window, Spaceship Earth is a distance from the World Showcase Lagoon, and there are still plenty of tall trees that may block part of the view. But those booking that expensive experience likely are more interested in the amazing cocktails the bar offers and the luxury of the experience, not necessarily a perfect view.

GEO-82 Wins at Providing High Quality Cocktails

GEO 82

The menu for GEO-82 includes custom cocktails, zero-proof options, plus a specialty bourbon flight. For bourbon experts, this flight includes some hard-to-come-by options like Blanton’s Gold Single Barrel and Stagg Private Barrel. We ordered this Exclusive Disney Select Bourbon Flight, which includes bourbons that have been hand-selected for GEO-82 and are exclusive to Disney. This was a highlight of the experience for my fiancé, who is a bourbon fan and was excited to get a chance to try some of these options that are hard to get.

Since these bourbons are all exclusive to Disney, the bartender told us that they selected the barrels for this lounge, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. At that point, Disney could pick new barrels or even change the type of bourbon offered. The Disney Cruise Line beverage team collaborated with the theme parks when creating the lounge and menu, which is apparent due to the level of detail we’ve grown accustomed to on the Disney Cruise lounges.

geo 82 drink

I am not a big fan of strong drinks, so the bartender recommended I try the Peach Shrub Whisky Smash. I loved this cocktail even though I don’t usually care for whiskey. The Toki Suntory Whisky in this drink is a smoother whiskey, so it mixes well in a cocktail.

cheese board

We also tried the cheese board, which was a fun selection of artisanal cheeses. The bread shared with the cheese board was surprisingly a hit, with the toast having just the right amount of crispiness.

geo82 chocolates

We were celebrating a special occasion on the day we visited and were gifted these truffles from our bartender. This was a nice touch!

Is GEO-82 Worth the Price?

We had a good experience at GEO-82, but I was disappointed to get seated at the bar when I was looking forward to the view that comes with this lounge. Aside from that, we had a great experience, and I enjoyed the chance to have high-quality drinks in this adult-only lounge. The theme parks can be quite overstimulating, and it was nice to get a break from the heat and noise of EPCOT. And from the kids! And that’s coming from a mom, it’s nice to get a break from the kids, especially your own. (Kidding! Or not..)

You will always pay a high price for alcohol at Walt Disney World and GEO-82 is no exception. However, I think the quality of the drinks is worth the price along with the luxury of the experience. As for the $180 fireworks package, I’m not sure I would be racing to reserve that as I don’t think the views from the lounge are quite good enough to justify that cost. As you can see in the photo above, the view looking out to the right part of EPCOT is mainly covered with trees. You can just barely see the Imagionation pavilion sticking out at the top.

I think GEO-82 is worth a visit if you are looking for a high-quality lounge experience on your next Walt Disney World visit. I will definitely be visiting again. But make sure to request a regular table so you can take in the EPCOT views.
