Single Rider Line Being Discontinued for Ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Guests visiting Disney theme parks alone and those willing to split up their party to ride separately can help Disney fill in 1-seat gaps on ride vehicles and usually experience a shorter wait time in the process. The strategy is especially convenient for guests uninterested in purchasing Lightning Lane access or arriving super early in the morning to beat the crowds.

One of the Disney World attractions with a single rider line is Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney recently introduced a new procedure within the Expedition Everest queue. This procedure has evidently been a success, leading to shorter wait times in the standby line. As a result, though, the single rider line has become inefficient to the point of no longer being needed.
Expedition Everest will no longer offer a single rider line, effective September 21, 2026. The roller coaster’s last day with a single rider line will be September 20. @ScottGustin on X reported the change.
With the new queue procedure, which began earlier this year, cast members group guests in the standby line by odd- and even-numbered parties before boarding. Due to this protocol, trains end up having fewer single seats that need filling, and therefore the single rider line moves much more slowly than it previously did.
While some guests may be disappointed at one less attraction offering a single rider line, the trade-off is a shorter wait in the standby line for all guests, including single riders.

It’s important to note that this does not reflect a phasing out of single rider lines altogether at Disney World. Single rider lines will continue at the following rides:
- Test Track at EPCOT
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Some single rider lines are more helpful in avoiding wait times than others. The single rider line for Rock n Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets can often end up having just as long a wait as the standby line. In other cases, single rider lines save huge amounts of time. When I visited EPCOT last month, the posted wait time for the standby line at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was 65 minutes. In the single rider line, I waited 12 minutes. Later, the Test Track standby line posted a 60-minute wait. I waited 3 minutes!
Single rider lines don’t always operate, depending on the circumstances. During a recent Disney World trip, the single rider line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets was closed all three times I visited the attraction.
In other Expedition Everest news, Disney recently announced that it will fix the Audio-Animatronics yeti inside the mountain sometime in the future. Nearly since the attraction opened in 2006, the giant “abominable snowman,” originally programmed to lunge at trains as they passed below, has been motionless, reportedly due to strain it was causing on its surrounding structures.
