Disney has just made a major change to their parks apps (Disneyland app and My Disney Experience app) that will address a frustrating issue when it comes to pre-loading payment info.
You can use Disney Visa Card rewards and Disney Gift Card balances for payment for various aspects of your Disney trip. The Disney apps have only allowed you to preload credit and debit information onto the app, but you had to re-enter the information for Disney Rewards Redemption Cards and Disney Gift Cards during each transaction.
Now, Disney has made a change to address part of this issue to make it easier for guests. See the details below as well as the big issue that we still would like to see resolved here!

Change to Entering Disney Rewards Redemption Card Info on the App
Instead of having to re-enter the Disney Rewards Redemption Card info for every transaction, you'll now see an option on the app to pre-load it. On both the Disneyland app and My Disney Experience app, you'll tap on the “More” menu (three lines at the bottom right of the screen), then tap to edit “Payment Method,” then tap “Add a Payment Method.” Now, you'll see the option to add information for a Disney Rewards Redemption Card so you don't have to keep inputting it over and over again.
We would love to see Disney add this same feature for Gift Cards but we do not anticipate they will make that change because there's no reason for them to make it easier for you to spend gift cards or Disney dining cards. This may be a first step towards that change, but part of the business of selling gift cards is that they will not be used or not be used for a long time. There's no reason for Disney to help you bank your gift cards from a business perspective because the “breakage,” or amount of cards not used is what makes this a good business. From an ease of use perspective, it would be great.
This makes it a good business because then people pay Disney or grocery stores for gift cards and then Disney never has to deliver anything of value for the unused gift cards. You pay Disney now for services that may or may not be used in the future, but they would prefer that they are not used.
