Inside Disney’s New Monsters, Inc. Restaurant That Opens This Week

Themed dining has become an increasingly important expectation of Disney vacations. Modern guests want their meals to be just as “Disney” as the rides and shows they experience throughout their trip, and Disney is delivering.

A new Monsters, Inc. restaurant brings a dining spot from the animated movie to real life for the first time, and we’ve got a look inside. At Mickey Visit, we cover the latest Disney news, like 58 changes to Disneyland menus, an upcoming iconic restaurant closure, and big progress on Disney World’s upcoming Encanto ride.

In Monsters, Inc., Mike Wazowski and his girlfriend Celia celebrate their anniversary at a restaurant called Harryhausen’s. Their date doesn’t last long, though, as the restaurant’s patrons are soon in distress at the sight of a human child.

Guests can now dine at a reimagined version of Harryhausen’s called Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia. This dining location opens on March 10, 2026, onboard the new Disney Adventure, Disney’s biggest cruise ship ever and its first to homeport in Asia.

Disney calls Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia “a taste of Harryhausen’s” rather than a direct duplication of the exact restaurant from the movie. Semantics aside, it’s basically Harryhausen’s. The interior design matches and it takes place in the world of Monsters, Inc.

This isn’t the first time Harryhausen’s has been depicted in a Disney theme park or cruise experience, but it is the first time the establishment has existed as a real restaurant. Riders briefly see Harryhausen’s during a scene in Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! at Disney California Adventure, which is scheduled to permanently close in 2027.

Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia is a premium dining restaurant on the Disney Adventure cruise ship. This means it’s not part of guests’ rotational dining, and eating here costs extra money not included in the price of guests’ vacation.

The restaurant features four unique meal options: a full-service Japanese steakhouse, a teppanyaki room, an Omakase bar, and a casual walk-up area for sushi and sashimi.

While we don’t have photos of everything on the menu, Disney did share a few sneak peeks. Pictured above is the Taraba Kani Chawamushi, a savory Japanese egg custard.

What excites us most about Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia is how it might offer some clues for another Disney project in the works, this one for Florida.

A Tease of What’s to Come for Disney World Expansion?

On the other side of the planet from the Disney Adventure’s Singapore homeport, Disney is constructing Monstropolis, the first-ever Monsters, Inc. theme park land, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

The big attraction in Monstropolis will be a roller coaster themed to the chase through the door vault at the climax of Monsters, Inc. We have a recent update on the new project released here.

Additionally, while Disney hasn’t officially announced details, concept art for Monstropolis depicts a Harryhausen’s restaurant. The dining location seems to reside in the former spot of Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, which permanently closed in 2025.

Time will tell how much of what we currently see in Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia on the Disney Adventure ship resembles what the Imagineers have planned for the Harryhausen’s restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for Monostropolis, but Mickey Visit predicts it will open in 2028.
