A new closure for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now visible on the Disneyland refurbishments calendar. This is one of Disneyland’s most highly-demanded attractions at the parks, and one of the two Lightning Lane Single Pass offerings.

New Rise of the Resistance Closure Announced
Disneyland has announced a new closure for Rise of the Resistance in January, following the Christmas celebration at Disneyland. Disneyland likes to take advantage of this slower time of year to get any necessary refurbishments done, so while there will be generally lower crowds in periods of January and February, you can also expect a greater number of ride closures during this time. Rise of the Resistance will close for refurbishment starting January 20, 2026. This closure starts right after the busy Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
While it is not uncommon for this ride to experience downtime on a daily basis, it is not often that Rise of the Resistance closes for a planned refurbishment. Right now, we are as far out as the refurbishment calendar goes, so we do not yet know when the ride will reopen. We have heard that the refurbishment is expected to last a few weeks.
As always, refurbishment timelines are subject to change. We know that because this ride is in such high demand, they will want to minimize its downtime as much as possible.
Earlier this year, they fixed the moving cannon effect that had been broken for a long time on this ride, but this has not always been working recently. This is a very complex ride with so many moving pieces that will benefit from upkeep.
This shares some overlap with the Haunted Mansion closure, which starts a few days after the end of the holiday celebration. This closure is to remove The Nightmare Before Christmas seasonal overlay and restore the traditional attraction until the next Halloween celebration.
