Certain Disney rides, especially the more intense thrill rides with a lot of motion, have some strict policies in place to keep guests safe and ensure the attraction operates smoothly. We have been seeing reports of a new safety policy that is now in effect for one of the resort’s major roller coasters.
This safety policy makes a lot of sense, so we are not surprised to see it go into effect. Keep reading for all of the details! At Mickey Visit, we cover the latest Disney news, including all December Disneyland ride closures and the Disneyland Cyber Monday deal ending soon. Plus, Disneyland’s 2026 calendar drop.

New Policy Enforced on Popular Ride
Disneyland has specific rules for different rides to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. For example, there is no filming allowed on rides like Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout, where flying phones could be a hazard. Disneyland recently implemented a new no-phones rule on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. There are some parts of that ride with sudden motion where guests’ belongings have the potential to fly out of their hands if they’re caught off-guard.

The rules that Disney makes are for guest safety and to ensure that rides have ongoing run time. Sometimes loose items that fall out of a vehicle can be the reason for a multi-hour stop if something falls off a ride car on to the track.
The Incredicoaster is now enforcing a no-loose-water-bottle rule for guests riding the attraction. Guests must either stow their water bottle securely in their bag or leave it behind to pick it up when they exit. Right now, there is a shelf dedicated to guests’ water bottles near the boarding/unboarding station.
This new safety policy makes a lot of sense, given that large, heavy insulated cups like Stanley cups are popular right now. These could very easily cause serious damage to other guests if they got loose, given the high speeds of the ride and the inversion.
It’s our understanding that they have been testing this out in some capacity for a little over a month now, but it seems like this new policy is here to stay. Some have mentioned this started in mid-October. There have been a few Reddit threads with many guests sharing that they have had to put their water bottles away on this ride. Some criticized this makeshift solution, comparing it to Universal and other theme park destinations that have lockers for rides like these.
Some Reddit users chimed in with their support of the new policy. User IncurableAdventurer
commented, “Oh gosh. I never thought about this and it’s scary to think that they’ve been allowed all this time. Perfect combo of sleek, large, and heavy. Backpacks can be large and heavy, but they’re easy to keep steady.”

Commenter tjsr shared, “Remember, that’s a 1-2kg projectile (possibly even more) leaving at up to 90km/h, possibly plus speed due to gravity. You don’t want someone being hit by that.”
We think this new policy is a smart move to keep guests safe on this ride. If you’re planning a visit soon, it’s important to be aware that you will have to temporarily hand your water bottle over on this ride or bring a bag to securely stow it in.
Here is a look at the water bottle collection station shared in the Reddit thread.
