Three rides at Disney California Adventure have just been added to the refurbishment calendar at the tail end of the holiday celebration at the resort. It is not uncommon for Disneyland to add several closures during this period, as it’s one of the least crowded times of year at the parks.
Keep reading for all dates and what we know so far about these closures! At Mickey Visit, we are always tracking the latest Disneyland ride closures to keep you informed as you are planning your trip, as well as other important news, like a new Costco ticket deal for 2026 travel and new Disneyland McDonald’s Happy Meal toys. New Disney California Adventure Ride Closures
The Disneyland Christmas celebration wraps up on January 7, 2026. Right after that, we expect to see a huge dip in crowds as we get into one of the slowest times of the year at the parks. This is a great time to visit for low crowds, according to our Mickey Visit Disneyland crowd calendar, but there are often more closures than usual as Disney takes advantage of this slower time to do maintenance on rides.

Starting on January 5, 2026, the Incredicoaster, Grizzly River Run, and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will be closed for refurbishment. We do not yet have a reopening date for any of these rides, as this is as far out as the calendar goes. We now have an update on this closure.
Typically, Grizzly River Run reopens from its seasonal closure in late February or March. This past year, it reopened in mid-March. We do not expect to see a firm reopening date for this attraction for a bit. Another thing to note is that one of our favorite Disneyland secret spots, the walkway that wraps behind the ride, will also be closed off while the ride is undergoing its seasonal refurbishment.
The Incredicoaster most recently underwent a few-week-long closure from late July to mid-August this past summer. We would not be surprised if this upcoming closure also spans a few weeks or longer.

Lastly, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind’s most recent closure around this same time of year lasted a couple of weeks. In 2025, it was closed from January 6 to January 23, so we can expect a similar timeline this year.
It’s worth noting that these two closures for the Incredicoaster and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind could be related to the construction of the new Coco ride, which will be located at the end of Pixar Pier near the Paradise Gardens area. We do not know this for sure, but it’s a possibility due to the location of these two rides. Disneyland recently hit a milestone working on this upcoming Coco ride that you can read about here.
We will keep you updated about these ride reopenings at Mickey Visit when that information becomes available.
