Disney Destiny

Ship christenings are a nautical tradition that bestows good luck on the ship, its crew, and guests. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, and Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences were in attendance for the christening and celebration of this newest Disney Cruise Line ship. Susan Egan, the voice of Meg in Hercules, was also present and was named the Godparent of the Disney Destiny. Bob Iger, Disney CEO, was not in attendance for the christening.

The theme of the Disney Destiny focuses on the storylines of heroes and villains and is the first ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet to have Marvel characters featured in the atrium and on the stern. Previously, the ship debuted a new horn song, “Go the Distance” from Hercules.

Disney Destiny Drone Show

The entertainment at the event highlighted the theme of Disney heroes and villains featuring a stage show with dancers, singers, and an aerial drone display above the ship.

Disney Drone show

The show featured songs highlighting the stories of heroes from The Lion King, Frozen 2, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Villains were also honored with a song for Cruella de Vil and the villain song for Hades from Hercules. This show was an impressive demonstration of Disney’s drone technology, something many fans have been eager to see incorporated more often in the Disney Parks.

Disney Destiny Maiden Voyage

Disney Destiny

The Disney Destiny’s maiden voyage begins on November 20, and it will be followed by a season of four and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean. This moment is a significant one for Disney Cruise Line as the Destiny joins its sister ships in the company’s rise toward 13 ships by 2031.

The Disney Destiny is the sister ship to the Disney Wish (launched in 2022) and the Disney Treasure (launched in 2024), with these ships calling on the stories of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney Parks attractions to offer experiences in the theme of adventure.

Some of the highlights from these ships include an original Broadway-style retelling of Moana, dining experiences inspired by Pixar’s Coco and Marvel Super Heroes, and a new assortment of Disney Parks-inspired lounges, including two inspired by the Haunted Mansion.

First Look Inside Disney Destiny

We got the first look at the interior of the Disney Destiny ahead of the preview sailing. First up is this stunning Great Hall inspired by the lore and color palette of “Black Panther.” The Grand Hall serves as the main gathering space on the Disney Destiny featuring T’Challa as the centerpiece.

The artwork on the Disney Destiny also features key moments in Star Wars which continues to pay homage to the stories of heroes.

Marvel lounge Disney Destiny

We also got the first look at the new Disney Destiny lounge, The Sanctum which is the first lounge on Disney Cruise Line to be themed to Doctor Strange. The space is filled with Easter eggs for this iconic character and his story.

Disney villain lounge

In another series of “firsts” for Disney Cruise Line is the new Cruella De Vil-inspired piano lounge. De Vil’s, an adult-exclusive space, is located just off the Grand Hall.

Disney Destiny stateroon

And of course, a look at the Disney Destiny stateroom design with this room featuring Merida from Brave. The staterooms on the Disney Destiny feature a variety of murals from films like Brave, Hercules, Mulan, Raya, and more.
