Disney’s New Muppets-Themed Roller Coaster Opening Period & Changes Revealed

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is receiving a new Muppets theme, which is a nice consolation for Disney fans who still mourn the loss of Muppet*Vision 3D. It’s great to know Muppets will still be a part of Hollywood Studios.

We now have an idea of when this new roller coaster will open, plus an update to the changes we can expect for the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. This addition looks like it will be tons of fun.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in summer 2026. No official date has been announced, but this means the opening date could happen anywhere from May through August 2026.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will remain open through the end of 2025 and will close sometime in 2026. Since the retheme is anticipated to happen next summer, I imagine we’ll see a closing date early in the year.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will feature Scooter as an all-new Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure as seen on the right-hand side of the concept artwork above.

This will be the first time Scooter has ever been imagined as an Audio-Animatronics figure. In his role as band manager, along with a team of penguin audio engineers, he will be trying to convince the Electric Mayhem to “stop laying down tracks” so they won’t be late to their own concert.

According to Disney, Scooter “might not be” the only Muppets Audio-Animatronics coming to the attraction, but we will have to “wait to learn more” about that. From the concept art that has been revealed for the ride, we can wonder if the penguins are going to be Audio-Animatronics. Perhaps the entire Electric Mayhem band, which would be a big technical upgrade to the current Aerosmith-themed preshow, but I expect that we’ll see them just use the current screen set up to show the band. Will there be Audio-Animatronics in the launch area?

I am so excited to see the Muppets get their own rollercoaster and especially a new Audio-Animatronics figure!
