Sequel to Underrated Disney Christmas Special
Disney has announced the new Christmas special “Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol,” which will be released across Disney+, Disney Channel, ABC, and Freeform. This is the fourth installment of the “Prep and Landing” series that follows Christmas elves from an elite organization who must prepare homes across the world for Santa's arrival. The original sits at the top of Mickey Visit founder Gavin Doyle's must-watch list of Christmas movies each year. In his article talking about the special, he describes how it “nails the spirit of the holiday with an integration of classic Christmas music, lovable characters, a wonderful story, and an uplifting original musical score.” This sequel builds on the adventures of the elves in this series of animated holiday specials.
In a press release, Disney describes how “the new special follows Christmas elves Lanny and Wayne, whose holiday mission goes awry, leaving Wayne convinced he’s in major trouble with Santa and accidentally revealing other merry mishaps. Magee, the North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center Coordinator and lover of eggnog lattes, brings along her pet arctic seal pup Nog to the office — kicking off endless hijinks.”
The special will debut on Thanksgiving, November 27, on Disney Channel at 7:00 p.m. EST/PST, and it will be available the next day on Disney+. Disney shared that, later in the season, it will go to ABC and then to Freeform’s “25 Days of Christmas.”
The sequel will feature both voices from the original cast and new cast members. The original voice cast includes Dave Foley as protagonist Wayne, Derek Richardson as Lanny, and Sarah Chalke as Magee. New cast members featured in the film include Manny Jacinto as Renato, “the most sought-after massage therapist and holistic healer in the North Pole”; Dulcé Sloan as Janice, “a clerk at the North Pole Post Office”; and Danny Pudi as Chef Geoff, “the master chef at the Fruitcake Factory.” Christopher Swindle voices Santa Claus, whom the elves call “The Big Guy.”
Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton will be executive producers of the film once again, and Colleen Evanson is co-producer and story editor.
Trailer for Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol Revealed
Disney shared a teaser trailer with a first look at the special, as well as art featuring Nog (short for Commodore Charles Eggnogginton III), who is described as “an irresistibly cute seal pup who becomes a part of the elves’ hijinks and adventures.”

In the teaser trailer, a gingerbread man is accidentally set in self-destruct mode, prompting Wayne and Lanny to evacuate in a rush before it detonates, and the fallout sets holiday decor ablaze and car alarms off. Wayne says, “Lanny, I am initiating Snowball Protocol…we will never speak of this again.”
