Two Pixar Cars Rides Coming to Disney World in Magic Kingdom

Two brand new attractions are coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom and they are not what we expected! These two new rides will reimagine an existing part of Frontierland at Walt Disney World.

Disney Cars is extremely popular with guests and the success of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure continues to demonstrate that. This land is one of the best things that Disney Imagineering has ever done and it does a great job incorporating the themes of the holidays as well.

So it just makes sense that Disney would also connect with this popularity and bring two brand new Cars rides to Walt Disney World!

Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater are coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World! This exciting Disney Parks announcement at D23: The Ultimate Fan Convention took everyone by surprise as this was one thing we did not predict.

This new Cars themed area will be coming to a reimagined section of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom as a different a way of incorporating the “American West” into this area of the park. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared that “The American West has always been about keeping your eyes on the horizon … believing in yourself, carving your own path, and striving toward success. That goes for miners in the mountains, bears from the country, a princess from the bayou … or a racecar from the big city.”

One attraction will be a thrill ride as guests race through the mountains through wild terrain across a landscape of mountain trails, geysers, and mudholes. The second attraction is built especially for smaller guests and will be geared (see what I did there?) for the whole family.

New Cars Rides Will Replace Area of Frontierland

In this new land Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater leave Radiator Springs behind and go on a new adventure. It is clear that is not simply a reproduction of Radiator Springs from Disney California Adventure which is great news. I love when we get unique offerings at both parks.

It is not clear yet where this area will go in Frontierland nor what it will be replacing. Work on this new space in Frontierland will begin in early 2025, I imagine we will get more details on where it will be and what it might potentially replace soon.
