NEW Characters Coming to Returning Character Dining Favorite at Walt Disney World

The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World is the most luxurious deluxe hotel available with top notch dining options to match. Character dining at Grand Floridian has been suspended since 2020 and we now know an opening date for returning character dining to 1900 Park Fare including NEW characters with new looks.

The 1900 Park Fare restaurant also underwent some changes so this is an entirely newly revamped character dining option returning to the Walt Disney World character dining lineup.

I am a frequent visitor at Walt Disney World and have enjoyed many different character options with one of my favorites easily being the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom. However, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of my favorite deluxe hotels and I am excited to share these NEW updates!

1900 Park Fare Restaurant Changes

Park Fare

1900 Park Fare will still retain the popular carousel theming throughout the restaurant but with a new mural added (shown above) that will serve as the focal point of the entrance.

In the dining rooms guests can find drawings of carousel animals inspired by “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Little Mermaid.” Guests can look out for hidden carousel details inside the restaurant as well!

There will also be twelve new portraits created just for 1900 Park Fare by Disney artists. Each one is inspired by the impressionist style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries featuring different Disney characters. The theming of this new artwork focuses on Disney characters as “they hope, dream and wish upon a star (or even a magic lamp or a wishing well).”

One notable visual from 1900 Park Fare has always been “Big Bertha” which is an antique organ that has been at the Grand Floridian since 1988. She will now be in the main dining room as a grand centerpiece for the entire restaurant.

This sounds like an impressive new look for 1900 Park Fare! Disney has made clear that the restaurant will still retain its “magic and whimsy of turn-of-the-century gardens and fairgrounds” but with just enhanced artistry and needed updates to further bring this theme to life. This restaurant has a long standing Walt Disney World history and many guests hold many special memories at this location.

New 1900 Park Fare Characters

Alongside new artwork and restaurant updates, 1900 Park Fare will also receive new characters at this character dining experience.

1900 Park Fare character dining will now include Aladdin in his Prince Ali look, Cinderella, Mirabel and Tiana in her new look for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as “they celebrate the power of a wish.” Tiana’s new look (pictured above, on the right) is in reference to her new bayou adventure outfit created specifically for the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure retheme of Splash Mountain.

This is an impressive lineup for this refreshed character dining experience while still keeping the popular Cinderella interaction in this experience. The addition of popular characters like Mirabel (Encanto is a consist hit at the Disney Parks) along with Aladdin and Tiana is a great move.

Previous characters at 1900 Park Fare were typically Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella.

When Does 1900 Park Fare Open?

1900 Park Fare

1900 Park Fare will reopen on April 10th, 2024. Reservations will open on March 5th. I expect reservations will go fast at first so be sure to read our best tips for securing Walt Disney World dining to grab your seat.

In the past this has always been one of the most popular character dining experiences and I expect this popularity will only increase with this new restaurant look and new character additions!

1900 Park Fare Menu

1900 Park Fare

There will be a buffet available for breakfast and dinner including returning favorites from this character dining experience like the strawberry soup. There will also be new menu items that pay tribute to the characters and the theme of the experience.

In the past the breakfast buffet offered fresh fruit, breads, carving stations, made to order omelets, and more. Past dinner buffets included popular dishes like the Strawberry Soup, catfish, carving stations, and more,

There was no mention of the afternoon Wonderland Tea Party at 1900 Park Fare returning in Disney’s announcement but we may see it return yet in the future. Currently 1900 Park Fare will only serve breakfast and dinner so there is a chance that they are keeping the afternoon available to bring back the afternoon tea!
