Thousands of the cast members who make up Disney’s theme park workforce are participants in the Disney College Program, a semester-long internship for current and recently graduated university students. Walt Disney World is now welcoming applicants for the spring 2027 semester, with a few protocol differences.
Disney World changed eligibility requirements for the Disney College Program, and also launched a new role exclusively for returning alumni cast members. Disney College Program Spring 2027 Changes
The Disney College Program is a popular internship in which participants work at the Walt Disney World theme parks or hotels. College Program cast members live in Disney-provided housing very close to the parks, and they can earn college credit for their internship. Disney also offers non-credit learning sessions with a focus on Disney history, leadership, and hospitality.

In many ways, the Disney College Program is the secret weapon of Walt Disney World. It helps to guarantee that there is a constant flow of energetic cast members ready to staff the parks, resorts, and dining across the sprawling operation.
Typically, College Program cast members are assigned to ride operations, food & beverage, merchandise, or custodial roles, or can audition for an entertainment role. College Program cast members earn $19 an hour.
The starting length of the Disney College Program is 4-8 months, with potential opportunities to extend your Program for a total of 12 months.
The spring 2027 arrival dates for the Disney College Program are:
- January 5, 11, 19, or 25, 2027
- February 1, 8, or 15, 2027

Eligibility Changes for Disney College Program
Here are the full requirements to be eligible for the spring 2027 Disney College Program, as stated by Disney on their website. We’ve bolded the change for spring 2027, and we break down what the change means below.
- You’re at least 18 years old when you submit your application.
- You’re currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States or the United States territories and actively working toward an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree.
- You graduated from an accredited college or university in the United States or the United States territories within the last 12 months of this job posting. (Graduation after August 17, 2025).
- Before your program start date, you must have completed at least one term at your college or university (or a minimum of 6 credit hours) towards your degree. Credits must have been earned after graduating high school or earning your GED.
- You’re in good academic standing at your school. Some schools require a minimum GPA or advisor approval before you can participate in an off-campus program. Check with your academic advisor before applying. Disney’s approval doesn’t override a hold your school places on your participation.
- You have valid work authorization in the United States for the full duration of your program. U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, green card holders, and F-1 students with valid OPT or CPT authorization are all welcome. If you have a different type of employment authorization that will be valid (unexpired) for the duration of the program dates you select, reach out to your DSO (Designated School Official) to confirm eligibility before applying. Disney does not sponsor visas for this program.
Disney also lists descriptors for those who are not eligible for the Disney College Program. You are ineligible if:
- You’re still in high school. Even if you’re dual-enrolled in high school and taking college classes right now, you’re not eligible to apply yet. You’ll need your high school diploma or GED first. Any college credit hours earned while still in high school don’t count toward the 6-credit-hour requirement above. Only credits you earned after you’ve graduated high school or completed your GED count towards the requirement.
- You graduated more than 12 months before the job position was posted. That window is measured from when the application becomes available. Not the date you apply or the date the program starts.
- You’re a returning Disney College Program participant who hasn’t waited long enough. At least 4 full months must pass since your last program’s departure date before you can arrive for a new program.
- Your visa doesn’t cover the full program. Students applying with a visa must contact their Designated School Official (DSO) to confirm eligibility before applying. If accepted, your visa must be valid for the full duration of your selected program dates prior to arrival. Disney does not sponsor visas.
In a change for the spring 2027 semester, if applicants have already graduated college, they must have done so no more than 12 months before the application launch date, which in this case was August 17, 2026. In other words, if you’ve graduated college, but your graduation date was before August 17, 2025, you are not eligible for the spring 2027 Disney College Program.
This is a big change from previous semesters, which allowed applicants who graduated college up to 24 months before the application launch date. The switch to 12 months is a return to a previous policy Disney held for years. The 24-month rule was introduced when the Disney College Program was reinstated following its pandemic-era break, since a large number of students would have missed out on being able to participate in the Program otherwise at that time.
Many graduates had taken the 24-month rule to be permanent, as it’s now been in place for several years and was valid through the fall 2026 semester. Some prospective applicants had planned their post-college plans around the policy, and now can’t apply.
A thread on Reddit is filled with would-be applicants sharing their disappointment in the change. “I could cry… I also graduated May 2025 and was finally at a point where I could apply,” wrote Ok_Entertainer91.
“Actually devastated because of this, been planning everything out, and all of a sudden they change it,” said Icy-Ad6963. “I was all calm thinking I have 3 chances to get in, but it seems like this is my only one. Would’ve applied in past windows too if I knew. Really anxious now,” wrote Far-Argument2738.

Alumni-Only Disney College Program Role for Spring 2027
Disney is offering a specialized spring 2027 Disney College Program role, as a Premium Services VIP Tour Support cast member, exclusively to alumni of previous College Programs or cast members currently enrolled in a College Program. The above eligibility still applies.
In this role, you would be deployed across Walt Disney World and provide ancillary support to tour guides. Arrivals begin in January 2027, and your departure would be no earlier than May 2027, but there could be an opportunity to extend your Program.
Here are the full job responsibilities listed in the job description for this role.
Valet Operations at Parks
- Greet arriving and departing Guests, providing elevated Guest experiences all while upholding safety and service guidelines
- Operate vehicles ranging in size from midsize SUVs to extra-large vans
- Comfortable with safely performing critical vehicle functions including, but not limited to, backing into parking spaces; maneuvering narrow drive lanes, compact spaces, and heavily occupied parking lots; and delivering/retrieving vehicles for Tour Guides efficiently. Note: Cast Members in this role will not be driving guests.
- Courteously assist Guests into and out of vehicles
- Remain composed during unexpected moments of increased arrival and/or departure demand while maintaining outstanding Guest service and Cast courtesy
- Exhibit exceptional time-management, organization, and attention to detail
- Proactively anticipate needs and readiness to assist
- Foster a continual sense of teamwork and encouragement to fellow colleagues and various operational partners
- Pass out bottled beverages and/or pre-packaged snacks to Guests
- Conduct various end of day responsibilities, paperwork as well vehicle and amenity replenishment
Parade and/or Fireworks Viewing Area
- Secure viewing area on behalf of park operations
- Transport varying materials/equipment to and from viewing locations
- Greet Guests, answer questions, resolve conflicts, and extend genuine interest in listening to and/or professionally conversing with Guests of the theme park and Guests of Disney VIP Tours
- Confirm Guests are with VIP Tours / Premium Services
- Comfortability with iPhone applications for check in and guest manifest
- Remain in area with Guests until parade and/or fireworks conclude providing exceptional service to park and VIP Tour Guests and fellow colleagues
- Provide ad hoc service to VIP Tour Guides while continuing to provide outstanding elevated experiences to our Guests
- Please note that candidates will not be trained or identified as a Walt Disney World VIP Tour Guide and should understand their role will be to support and improve the operation in varying and sometimes unusual ways.
