Mickey & Minnie Short Film Closing for Refurbishment
Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie is, as its full, formal name indicates, a 10-minute short film at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
It’s mostly made up of clips from Disney Television Animation’s Mickey Mouse series of the 2010s, with a few minutes of original animation created just for the attraction. Vacation Fun opened in 2020 in tandem with Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, whose art style is based on the same Disney Channel series.

Vacation Fun will close for refurbishment starting April 29, 2026. The last day to experience the attraction before the closure is April 28. It will reopen later this year, though Disney didn’t announce an exact date.

Disney didn’t share the reason for Vacation Fun’s refurbishment. An update to the film itself seems unlikely, as Disney Television Animation stopped producing Mickey Mouse cartoons in this series years ago. The refurbishment may be more related to the venue, perhaps sprucing up the seating or other facilities.
I’m a bit surprised Disney is committed to keeping the attraction around. I love the Mickey series it’s based on, but after six years of operations, I wonder why Disney opted to refurbish and reopen Vacation Fun rather than take this opportunity to introduce a new film.
Vacation Fun is screened in the Mickey Shorts Theater, where every chair is designed to look like, well, Mickey’s shorts. In the past, this venue was the home of Star Wars: Path of the Jedi, a montage of Luke Skywalker movie clips, and Sounds Dangerous!, an audio-based show starring Drew Carey.
In the attraction’s exit area, guests can pose with “props” from Vacation Fun, including the infamous potato that inspired Potatoland, Goofy’s favorite theme park.
Changes Happening at Hollywood Studios
The refurbishment of Vacation Fun is one of many noteworthy calendar items on deck for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
On May 22, 2026, the Mandalorian and Grogu will join Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in a new version of the ride.
On May 26, 2026, the park will open two new experiences: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
In late summer 2026, Hollywood Studios will reintroduce The Magic of Disney Animation, an attraction that closed over a decade ago. The updated version features a drawing class hosted by an Audio-Animatronics figure of Olaf from Frozen.
Looking further into the future, the park will expand with Monstropolis, a new land based on Monsters, Inc.
