Disneyland Removed 3 Spaces to Add Seating and Improve Guest Experience

Disney continually introduces new areas to its theme parks, monitoring guest feedback to meet and exceed expectations. This principle applies to big-scale new attractions, yes, but it’s also true for the smaller facets of a day in a theme park that add up to the overall Disney experience.

Disneyland Resort recently introduced three new seating areas to specifically meet guests’ needs. Keep reading to learn where these spaces are, and what Disney got rid of to build them. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including big announcements about Disney’s future under its new CEO and the verdict of a proposal to evaluate Disney’s disability pass.

Longtime Disneyland Resort visitors may remember the days of paper FastPasses. Disney’s current skip-the-line service, Lightning Lane, is completely digital. Guests reserve Lightning Lane access within the Disneyland app on their phones. Predating Lightning Lane were several iterations of a skip-the-line program, including MaxPass and the original FastPass.

In the paper FastPass era, guests visited physical kiosks within the theme parks to obtain hardcopy FastPasses for their preferred attraction experiences. With FastPass being retired for several years now, the spaces that once hosted FastPass distribution kiosks have become underutilized real estate within the parks.

Disney just opened a new seating area at the former FastPass area in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, specifically between Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission – BREAKOUT! and the Pym Test Kitchen restaurant. We previously reported on this ongoing work here.

120 seats are in this new area, along with tables and umbrellas, providing more outdoor seating for Pym Test Kitchen or additional space for guests to simply take a break.

Here’s a look at the underutilized space in the background of this photo in recent years.

Disneyland Shop Becoming Seating Area

Royal Street Jazz Club" new seating

In spring 2025, a store named Port Royal Curios and Curiosities within New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park temporarily closed and became a seating area. Instead of merchandise, the space was filled with tables and chairs, as well as props that evoked a jazz theme. The seating area transitioned back into a store when the Halloween season began.

Now, Port Royal Curios and Curiosities is once again walled off as Disney prepares to install a seating area into the space once more.

Cars Land Seating Area

In 2025, a new themed area opened within Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. Near the Cozy Cone Motel, Disney installed a space called Red’s Community Garden.

The area, named after Red the firetruck from the “Cars” movies, has tables and chairs located in a shaded corner.

Red’s Community Garden checks a few boxes for Cars Land, not only adding seating for guests retrieving food from the nearby Cozy Cone Motel but also contributing to the land’s central story as being the home of Radiator Springs citizens. In the films, gentle giant Red loves gardening, for which his firehose comes in handy!

The addition of these seating areas in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure emphasize an attentiveness on Disney’s part to improve existing park spaces in service of the guest.
