Disneyland has been quietly removing options at one of our top-ranked quick-service restaurants in the park since last summer, greatly reducing the variety of menu items.
The menu items hit in this reduction include a favorite for vegetarians and bacon lovers alike. This used to be my favorite lunch option, and during a recent visit, I was reminded of how much I miss it. At Mickey Visit, we report on recent news like the new perks and major discounts for Disney World resort hotel guests and the new reopening date for an iconic attraction.

Bengal BBQ Continues to Reduce Menu Options
Bengal Barbecue has long been one of our favorite quick-service food spots in Disneyland. This popular food spot is known for its menu of grilled skewers cooked over an open flame across from Indiana Jones Adventure.
This stand has been a reliable option for a quick stop to grab a good meal with more variety than many of the other quick-service spots in the park. We rank the restaurant as one of our best quick service restaurants. It is the fourth quick service restaurant listed on our overall best Disneyland restaurants list.

But over the past year, the menu at Bengal Barbecue has been quietly changing. Several popular and long-running items have disappeared, including one notable skewer that has been a staple for years.
At the same time, we’ve seen Disney introduce new items that have reshaped the menu but reduced the overall number of choices available. This menu reduction has been particularly rough for vegetarians and healthy eaters.
Oh, How We Miss You, Vegetable Skewer!
We are talking about the beloved Outback Vegetable Skewer. This fan-favorite skewer was made up of all grilled vegetables, making it a perfect option for vegetarians but also for those looking for something filling and healthy. We would often get this skewer and then take the grilled zucchini, peppers, and onions off and eat them on a plate with a fork and knife. It was a perfect fresh vegetable boost among all the other fun park snacks.
Around the time we lost this beloved skewer, we also lost the Safari Skewer, which was asparagus wrapped in bacon. For vegetable and bacon lovers, that was a blow. Even the hummus hasn’t been safe from these vegetable reductions, as the Hummus Trio served with fresh vegetables was also removed from the menu around the same time.
At this point, the entire grilled vegetable category at Bengal Barbecue has been eliminated since last summer. The only vegetarian option that remains now is the Bulgogi Bean Salad, which is not a grilled skewer option, but a cold salad. All of these changes have effectively reduced a once diverse skewer menu of about 6-7 varieties, down to 4 core skewers plus the cold bean salad. If you want grilled vegetables with your skewer, you are now limited to a pork-only option with the Pork & Vegetable Skewer which includes grilled pork belly and asparagus.

These changes were likely made to simplify operations at this quick-service stand by switching to fewer ingredients, especially since Bengal Barbecue has one of the smallest kitchens in the park. It may also have been to remove the cost of fresh vegetables.
Unfortunately, these are items that are already sorely missed. We had to share this story after our own experience and receiving multiple emails from readers. One reader even wondered how we could all help to get the vegetable skewers back to the park as an option. Add this to my list of requests for Disneyland’s just announced new president.
