What the Permit Details Reveal
The filing involves the former Tower of Terror FastPass distribution area, located across from Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! inside Avengers Campus. While the structure has been present for years, recent activity suggests it will soon serve a new purpose. According to the permit description, the project will “convert existing detached fast-pass ticket shade structure into an outdoor eating area with new joists.” You can see the structure in the background of the photo above.

The structure was initially built to support FastPass distribution for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which was replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! in 2017. While Avengers Campus officially opened in 2021, this particular structure has remained essentially unchanged from its previous use. The area surrounding the structure was closed off earlier this year, suggesting upcoming changes to the space.
Now construction walls have gone up around the structure, seen above. Additional seating and shade would provide practical relief in a land that sees heavy midday sun exposure. The existing outdoor seating in the land, primarily near Pym Test Kitchen, fills very quickly. Repurposing the unused structure into an outdoor seating area would provide additional capacity while helping the structure feel more cohesive within the Avengers Campus backdrop. While modest compared to the larger expansion plans for Avengers Campus, updates like this can genuinely help improve guest flow and comfort within the land.
How This Fits Into The Larger Avengers Campus Expansion

This permit comes as Avengers Campus prepares for a significant expansion that will eventually double the size of the land. Two major attractions, Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, have been announced as part of that next phase. In addition to new rides, infrastructure improvements have been underway throughout the area, including ongoing construction near the land’s perimeter and the temporary closure of the walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus. During the walkway closure, guests can use the Performance Corridor to access Cars Land or Avengers Campus.

Though the permit for the former FastPass structure appears unrelated to the new attractions themselves, it reflects continued investment in refining and expanding the guest experience within the land. No timeline has been announced for when the new seating may open, but we’ll be keeping an eye on progress in the land and will update as soon as more details become available.
