50’s Prime Time Café Review: Comfort Food in Mom’s Kitchen

Disney's Hollywood Studios is a popular theme park due to having all the newest attractions like Rise of the Resistance and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. 50's Prime Time Café is one of my favorite dining options because of the great American comfort food and the fantastic theming. Keep reading for our 50's Prime Time Café review to see why this dining option is so popular at Walt Disney World!

50's Prime Time Café Review

50's Prime Time Cafe is an all-American restaurant inside Hollywood Studios that is themed to be just like “Mom's Kitchen” from the 1950s. This is easily one of the most popular restaurants inside Hollywood Studios- the reservations can be near impossible to get! You can make reservations online on the Walt Disney World dining website up to 60 days in advance. If you miss out and don't find a reservation, I recommend trying Mouse Watcher which will search relentlessly for a variety of days/times for your chosen restaurant for $5 per restaurant search. While many free services like this exist, I've found this one to be the most successful.

Be prepared for some humor at this restaurant- the staff here aren't above giving you lessons in table etiquette and lectures on table manners! I was told more than once to keep my elbows off the table which my son found hilarious.

The theming of this restaurant was amazing, I was instantly overwhelmed with nostalgia for my grandma's house. If you're into vintage items you will love the decor, I spent a lot of time looking at everything on the walls and in the main area. There's retro TV tables so you can watch tv while you eat but if you don't get seated at a TV table, don't worry there's plenty of retro TVs mounted around the restaurant! The TVs are showing prime time tv show clips from the 50's and every so often will show Walt Disney's opening speech from Disneyland which we loved.

Next door to the restaurant, adults can check out the Tune-In Lounge which offers more alcoholic drinks and a large retro bar space.

Corners of the lounge feature more retro theming
Check out the tvs for more 1950s clips

We were seated a table in the corner which didn't have a tv attached but had a great view of the entire restaurant and tv on the wall.

The walls are covered with vintage items
Every corner is made to look like an old fashioned kitchen

The menu was a hit for my picky family as it offers tons of great traditional American foods and desserts. The food was fantastic and really tasted homemade. The mashed potatoes especially were amazing, we kept asking for more sides because we loved them so much. 10/10 when it comes to the food, hands down!

The peanut butter and jelly milkshake was a hit, we loved it.
The mashed potatoes were to die for. Next time I'll just ask for a giant bowl of mashed potatoes!
The mac and cheese was really good!
Mom's brownie for dessert!

Overall, I absolutely loved this dining experience. The theming was perfect from the vintage decor to the 1950s tv show clips and the wonderful waitresses. This restaurant is now an absolute must do for every Walt Disney World trip for us- I highly recommend it.
