New Show Coming to Disneyland Park Soon

Over the past couple of years, the Disneyland Resort has made significant entertainment cuts, including the loss of a Fantasyland Theatre show, the Hyperion Theater sitting empty, and the cancellation of two Avengers Campus shows. We now have some good news to share on this front—a new show will be coming to Disneyland Park!

Disney just posted a casting call on the Disney Careers site that describes the roles needed for this new entertainment offering at Disneyland. Keep reading for everything we know so far!

The casting notice is also calling for submissions from “vibrant, energetic, and engaging Musicians from a diverse spectrum of musical and cultural backgrounds to join our dynamic ensemble. Ideal candidates should be friendly and comfortable engaging with children, especially in live performance. Strong musical improvisational skills and the ability to connect with young audiences are key.”

Here are the roles they are looking for:

  • Saxophone/Woodwinds: Candidate must be a versatile woodwind player with required doubling on alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. Strong proficiency in flute doubling also required. The candidate must be comfortable performing in a variety of music styles including but not limited to jazz, rock, folk, pop, and musical theatre, and blend well within an ensemble.
  • Trombone: Candidate must be a skilled tenor trombonist. The candidate must have strong tone, intonation, and rhythmic precision. The candidate must be comfortable performing in a variety of music styles including but not limited to jazz, rock, folk, pop, and musical theatre, and blend well within an ensemble. Doubling on piano a plus.

The candidate must demonstrate excellent tone, endurance, and intonation, and must be comfortable performing a variety of music styles including but not limited to jazz, rock, folk, pop, and musical theatre, while blending well within an ensemble.
  • Acoustic Guitar: The ideal candidate must be a versatile acoustic guitarist, proficient in a variety of music styles including but not limited to jazz, rock, folk, pop, and musical theatre. The candidate must blend well within an ensemble. Vocals are a plus.

We anticipate this new show is most likely coming to Fantasyland Theatre. Since Tale of the Lion King ended its run in January of 2024, there has not been a full-scale show at this location. The space has been used for the Pixar Pals Playtime Party and “Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends” in the time since then.

We don't yet know if there were will be new entertainment added for the second half of the 70th anniversary celebration at the resort. This could potentially be for that, or it may be for the holiday season, though the latter is unlikely given that Disney already confirmed that Santa and holiday activities will be returning to Fantasyland Theatre this year during the Christmas celebration at Disneyland.

We don't know for sure that the show is coming to Fantasyland Theatre, but given the likelihood this is the case, it seems that this may be a totally new show for the 70th anniversary. We're excited to see this, as Disney's live entertainment really shines, and it's been disappointing to see this cut back. This show looks like it will be a great new experience for families to enjoy at the park!
