We just got the first look at The Beak and Barrel, Disney's new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge during a media event today. Mickey Visit was there to bring you the first look at this new space. The lounge is a great addition to the resort and features food and drinks.
This new lounge is all ages, unlike the new adults-only Disney theme park lounge, and is already very popular. The Disney website has crashed multiple times due to demand when reservations were initially released. Come along with us to see if the hype is worth it!

The Beak and Barrel Opening Date
When reservations went live on the Disney website, they sold out in just two hours for almost all dates through September and into October. This is going to be a hard-to-get reservation, especially in the initial opening months. Over time, the hype might die down as we've seen with other lounges like Oga's Cantina.

Below is our full photo tour of the new lounge. We'll be back with a review and more details once we get to actually experience sitting down here.
This new lounge follows similar rules to Oga's Cantina in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Drinks are limited to two per adult, and the experience is limited to 45 minutes per party.
The Beak and Barrel officially opens on August 29 to all guests at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
The Beak and Barrel Lounge Design Inspired by Pirate Themed Storyline
The design of The Beak and Barrel is inspired by the storyline that this lounge was once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers. There are five different rooms of the bar that all have slightly different themes. There's the Mess, the Cursed Bar, Captain's Quarters, Captains' Booths, an Mapmarkers' Room. You can see photos of all of these different spaces below.
A Walt Disney Imagineer was present at the media event and shared more about the storyline.
This tavern was founded by a legendary pirate rum runner named Captain Meridian Goldwyn. She created this place as a welcoming pirate haven for all pirate kind so that any rascal scoundrel, and ne'er do well cad can come here, under the spirit of parlay, share a tankard, share some laughs, share some stories, and feel right at home here in the Pirate Tavern.
And so of course our Captain Mary, she's out sailing, she's out doing her rum running thing, but she's left the tavern in the very capable wings of Rummy, who used to be her first mate, is now the quartermaster of the tavern. He's a very talkative little green parrot who you might see from time to time and he sort of serves as the emcee of the place and so lead us in toasts and songs and tell jokes and say hello and welcome everybody.
Long tables fill the room, with an anchor covered in dripping wax hanging above.
A large bar sits on one side of the room and is built from “salvaged portions of a cursed shipwreck” with a skull-shaped stern centerpiece.
Guests can watch for the Enchanted Rum Bottle, which was gifted to Mary by a character called Tia Dalma and serves as a source for the specialty brews.
The story for the new Pirates of the Caribbean bar incorporates two new characters: Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn and Rummy the talking parrot. The lounge was established by this legendary pirate rumrunner and her trusted parrot companion.
Rummy serves as the tavern's quartermaster and keeps an eye on the bar from his roost high atop the bar. Rummy is inspired by the original Barker Bird that previously sat above the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance. He will be sharing tales of piracy and leading the bar in a “rousing toast or two.” We haven't seen Rummy yet, but will have an update with more photos this afternoon.
A second room called the Captains' Quarters is inspired by finer decor, which was once the quarters of the Spanish Comandante.
The Imagineer shared “We stopped counting how many props are in here after we had like 2500 I think. The fun part about working within a pirate story is they're collectors. They've got a little bit of everything, so getting to see what our props team was able to dream up and put in here was really special.”
The space has still been marked by pirates with the fine artwork and drapery showing evidence of blades and burn marks.
A space above the fireplace shows five miniature ships in glass bottles, rumored to represent pirates from every corner of the world. These glass bottles will “come alive and engage in fearsome battle,” which adds a fun detail to this area of the lounge.
Here's a closer look at the portraits of the “who's who” of the Pirates world inside the bar.
You can see how the bar is spread out with different themed seating areas with tables in various corners and nooks.
The Imagineer shared more and mentioned an item below as one of his favorite parts of the lounge.
“My favorite part of the lounge changes every single day, but currently, our captain's boots are my favorite, so we had all of these carvings done and They all tell very narrative stories about different pirates that are in our story. There are 4 different waves and one of them represents adventure, unity, freedom, and fortune. Fortune – That's that's the most important thing to pirate, but if you have a chance to look at them, they'll they'll tell the story of that pirate and how they moved along to get where they are. They were hand carved. They're so insanely detailed.” Spot the waves below the images.
This is another angle on the bar that is in the shape of a skull.
Look at the cannonball mark in the wall where some other pirates have attacked and blasted through. There are so many different details in this space that all tell a story.
Pirate Themed Drinks and Tavern Snacks
We also got a look at the merchandise and food options coming to the tavern. Here's a quick look at the upcoming merchandise and then a further look into the food and beverage program. We'll be back later today with a more in-depth review.
And here's the front of that shirt along with a parrot shoulder plush.
And here are the themed backpacks.
These items will be available next door at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar.
Now, turning to the food and beverage options.
Here's a look at the Treasure Trove. This non-alcoholic drink is a mix of ube, lemon, and coconut. It also comes with some sweet treats, like a vanilla cake plank, chocolate cannonball, and golden caramel popcorn.
Below is the Plunderer’s Punch! It has Kraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla, and a hint of citrus. For some added treasure to take home with you, this sip comes in a souvenir pirate skull mug. This special loot is limited to one per guest.
You can also see The Siren’s Whisper which combines Pot & Column Still White Rum with citrus and spice. This sip was inspired by the Fountain of Youth, also known as the Aqua de Vida from the films. For the final drop of allure, the drink is topped with a special siren tear.
Seen below in the brass cup is the Port of Call. This delightful sip brings the flavor. With London Dry Gin, Ruby Port, lemon juice, and spiced cranberry, you’ll be wanting to live the pirate’s life.
Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes are a warm corn cake stuffed with melted cheese, lime sour cream, and chili peppers topped with cotija cheese. There are two paths you can take on your foodie adventure – one with roasted corn and poblano peppers or one with chipotle-braised chicken.
This is a mixed chips basket called Island Provisions. Grab your crew for this shareable bite with plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, and toasted flatbread served with various savory dips.
You can see the full menu from the restaurant below.
