New Disney California Adventure Attraction Closure & Ride Reopening Date Added to Refurbishment List

Disneyland is constantly updating its refurbishment list with new closures for top rides and attractions. At Mickey Visit, we are constantly watching and reporting on these changes. Recently, we reported that a different Disney California Adventure ride closure was added and that there are three Disneyland classic attractions closed.

Disneyland just added another attraction to the refurbishment list and released the reopening date for another ride. This refurbishment starts about a month into the Disneyland Halloween season. There are now going to be four overlapping closures during this same period at Disneyland. This closure is for one of the Disney California Adventure attractions that many miss and that we recently worried would be closed completely and the reopening is for one of the most terrifying coasters at Disneyland.

New Disney California Adventure Closure Added

Disney just added a new closure in Disney California Adventure. Mickey's PhilharMagic is now slated to close on Monday, October 6, 2025. No reopening date is visible on the calendar yet. This added closure comes at a time after the top Disney California Adventure attraction will have reopened after a month-long closure.

This attraction was added to Disney California Adventure in 2019. The attraction is a musical 3D film that follows Donald Duck as he is plunged into the world of animated Disney classic films after he tries on Mickey's Sorcerer Hat. The film features these songs as scenes during the show – “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, “I Just Can't Wait to Be King” from The Lion King, “Un Poco Loco” from Coco, “You Can Fly” from Peter Pan, and “A Whole New World” from Aladdin.

Versions of this film play in every single Disney Park except Shanghai Disney. We recently saw a MASSIVE line for this attraction while visiting Hong Kong Disneyland. Check out our full look at 18 things from that park that we wish were in the US.

This is a very cute attraction that never has a wait that is a perfect escape from the heat or rain. A perfect place for a quick break.

Right now, we are watching this area of Disney California Adventure like a hawk. Disney has announced that part of this Hollywood Backlot area will become a new Avatar-themed area with a stunning new attraction. We know that they are closing one beloved ride back here to make way for the new land. We are hopeful that they are not going to shut down this theater. Recent permits for this attraction closure indicate that this closure will include upgrades to the projectors, audio, lighting, and control equipment, according to ThemeParkIQ. These enhancements will improve the attraction and may also be meant as a way to improve the usability of this space for other presentations and special events. We have received media briefings in here for instance.

In Disney California Adventure, this theater was previously home to a Frozen-themed sing-along before Mickey's PhilharMagic and before that a version of the MuppetVision 3D film that just closed permanently in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

Reopening Date Added For Disney California Adventure Closure

We previously reported that Goofy's Sky School is closing the Sunday before on September 28. Now, we see that the calendar has been updated to include a reopening date for this attraction.

Goofy's Sky School is set to reopen on October 5, 2025. Surprisingly, the closure is set to start and end on Sundays, which isn't typical for closures like this. We're curious to see if there's a shift in this closure for that reason.
