1. Magic Kingdom Changes Fireworks Show

Fireworks

Magic Kingdom is changing its fireworks show for three nights this month to celebrate the 4th of July. Happily Ever After will be replaced by Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky on July 3rd, July 4th, and July 5th at 9 PM each night instead. This year's celebration is extended to three nights due to the 250th anniversary of America.

EPCOT fireworks

EPCOT will also be celebrating the 4th of July with a special show after Luminous concludes. The Heartbeat of Freedom fireworks show will be shown after Luminous ends on July 3rd, July 4th, and July 5th at 9:15 PM. This is not a full fireworks show like the one at Magic Kingdom and is instead a short 5-minute patriotic-themed show.

3. EPCOT Has No Festival This Month

Spaceship Earth

EPCOT is in the midst of a lengthy stretch without a major festival until next month. There is no active festival taking place at EPCOT until the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts on August 27. This is pretty rare for EPCOT, as usually there is a smaller break than this in between festivals. Expect quieter crowds at EPCOT this month since there isn't the draw of specialty foods and entertainment to enjoy.

4. Nostalgic Attraction Closing for Major Overhaul

Carousel of Progress

Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom is closing on July 6 for a major overhaul of the ride's timeline, with the story of the ride shifting forward by 60 years. The new version of the attraction will reopen sometime in 2027. This is a beloved, nostalgic ride in Magic Kingdom, and the last day of operations on July 5 will likely draw big crowds.

5. Brunch Spot Temporarily Moving Due to Restaurant Closure

The Grand Floridian Cafe is not showing hours on the My Experience App past July 20 as it closes for refurbishment. During this closure, the popular brunch will instead move to Citricos. The last day to dine here before it closes for refurbishment is July 19.

6. Disney World Resort Restrictions Now in Place

Walt Disney World water taxi

After an initial test run earlier this year, guests boarding Disney Resort hotel buses and the Sassagoula River Cruise from Disney Springs are now required to show a valid Disney Resort hotel room key, dining reservation, or experience reservation for the Resort they are visiting. If guests cannot verify, they will be denied boarding.

This policy change began on June 28 and is now part of daily operations at Disney Springs, with no end date. This isn't the only change we've seen to resort hotel operations, as pool access is also being strictly enforced, and there are rumors of a larger crackdown on accessing resort hotels this holiday season.

7. New Disney Springs Entertainment Open

Level99 pizza, drink

Level99 is now open in Disney Springs with a new menu including many great cocktail options for adults. The indoor facility features 63 “life-sized mini games” for adults and teenagers, ranging from physical activities to puzzles. Level99 greatly expands the entertainment options at Disney Springs for both families and adults.

8. Nightly Events Taking Place Across Disney World

After Hours

In July, there are multiple nightly ticketed events to enjoy, including H20 Nights at Typhoon Lagoon, After Hours, and Extended Evening Hours for deluxe resort hotel guests.

Disney World After Hours events are scheduled at Hollywood Studios on July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, at EPCOT on July 9 and 23, and at Magic Kingdom on July 13 and 27.

H20 Nights will continue at Typhoon Lagoon on July 3, 7, 17, 24, and 31. Extended Evening Hours typically take place on select Monday nights at EPCOT and Wednesday nights at Magic Kingdom for Deluxe Resort guests.
