First Look at Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota in Haunted Mansion Movie

Disney fans have practically memorized the sights and sounds of the iconic Disney attraction, the Haunted Mansion. The spooky ride has been a favorite since its opening in 1969 and has earned its place as a beloved Disney classic! Secure in their Doom Buggies, guests embark on a chilling tour of the Haunted Mansion and all of its ghostly inhabitants, encountering haunted ballrooms, a graveyard, a spooky séance room, and more.

Now, the Haunted Mansion is taking its happy haunts to the big screen, with a new movie premiering this summer! In this retelling of the story, a single mother enlists the help of a team of experts to exorcize her mansion after discovering that it is haunted. Unsurprisingly, the task won't be so easy, and we'll encounter several familiar Haunted Mansion favorites along the journey.

Among one the familiar characters who will appear is Madame Leota, the floating disembodied head from the Haunted Mansion ride. We all know and love her iconic incantations as she summons the spirits of the Haunted Mansion in the “Séance Circle.”

While it is already a treat to see Madame Leota in live action, she is played by none other than Jamie Lee Curtis in the Haunted Mansion. The esteemed Knives Out and Halloween actress is no stranger to scary films, as she rose to fame through her roles in several horror movies. Curtis recently won an Academy Award for her performance as Best Supporting Actress in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

She will be continuing her streak of spooky movies as she plays Madame Leota in the new Haunted Mansion film, and we now have a first look at her character. In the picture, we see Leota's menacing stare, with her iconic blue floating blue hair. Curtis looks fantastic, and we're looking forward to hearing how she sounds as the character, as her voice has the perfect timbre for the role.

The Haunted Mansion movie is set to release on July 28, 2023, and you'll be able see your favorite ghosts from the classic Haunted Mansion ride in live action. Alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, the Haunted Mansion will also feature Rosario Dawson, who portrays the title character in the upcoming Disney+ show Ashoka released later this year, alongside other stars including Winona Ryder, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Jared Leto, Danny DeVito, Owen Wilson, and more.
