One of the most iconic Walt Disney World resort hotels is Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa which has been an icon of the resort since it opened in 1988. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is known for its unique theming that celebrates the “golden age of travel” and Florida's lavish seaside hotels.
The lobby of this hotel is extremely popular for guests to visit, especially during the holidays. Disney has announced major changes to this classic lobby which includes the introduction of a new bar in the space!

New Lobby Bar Coming to Disney World Grand Floridian
A new lobby bar is coming to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as seen in the concept art above. The bar is inspired by the lobby's iconic birdcage and will pay tribute to the Victorian roots of the resort with “intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents.” Guests will be able to spot colorful birds in the stained glass and murals throughout the atrium.
The lobby bar will sit directly across from the Victorian cage-style elevator we all love so much! So no worries there, the elevator will remain intact. This is a wonderful addition to the Grand Floridian's popular lobby and will naturally expand some seating with the addition of the stools for the bar. This makes the Grand Floridian an even more popular spot on the monorail “bar crawl” that many Disney adults enjoy partaking in.

That's not the only change coming to this iconic resort lobby! The lobby, staircase and front desk will be refreshed with a mix of “botanical accents” to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere. New carpeting will feature Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by “turn-of-the-century botanical studies.”
Disney recognizes just how meaningful this resort is to guests and made clear in their announcement that Disney Imagineers are approaching this refurbishment with “great care and focus in maintaining the heart and story of the Grand Floridian.”
