First-Ever Walt Disney Animatronic REVEALED! PHOTOS & VIDEOS First Look

As part of Disneyland's 70th anniversary celebration, a new attraction will soon debut at Disneyland called “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” featuring Walt Disney Imagineering’s first lifelike Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney.

Today, we got an early look at this new show ahead of its official opening date on July 17! Keep reading for photos and video revealing the new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure.

Walt Disney Animatronic Revealed

This new show at the Main Street Opera House tells the story of Walt Disney's life, starting out with an adapted version of the “One Man's Dream” film that currently plays at Disney's Hollywood Studios (featuring Bob Iger as the narrator instead of Julie Andrews) and culminating in the reveal of the Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney, who appears in his office to share stories and words of wisdom.

As we learned during our trip to Walt Disney Imagineering a few months ago, a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure has been something that Imagineering has been interested in making for a while, but they wanted to wait until now so that the technology was advanced enough to fully do it justice.

When the show officially debuts on July 17 this week, it will utilize a virtual queue, and no standby line will be offered initially. See details on how you can access the virtual queue here. After the show's initial run, it will play in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”

We got to see the show a few days before its official opening as part of a media preview hosted by Disneyland today. Here is a first look at the Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt!

The figure, based on Walt Disney near the end of his career, speaks using all historical audio recordings from Walt, blended together.

Here is a closer look at the details of the figure. In our recent trip to Imagineering to learn about the new figure, we learned that each element of Walt's attire was carefully researched, and each hair was individually punched into the scalp.

Along with the show, there is also a new gallery experience at the Main Street Opera House, featuring the evolution of Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland. This gallery exhibit is made up of images, art, and artifacts that show Disneyland before, during, and after Walt’s dream became a reality. Further in the lobby of the Main Street Opera House is another special exhibit highlighting the history and advancements of Audio-Animatronics technology. For these experiences, Disneyland is collaborating with The Walt Disney Family Museum, which has lent more than 30 artifacts, including some original items from Walt’s private apartment at Disneyland.
