Disneyland appears to be preparing for significant work on one of its most iconic classic attractions, with documents outlining a range of updates that go well beyond routine maintenance. The scope of the planned improvements includes infrastructure upgrades, show enhancements, and mechanical work for the attraction.
While no official refurbishment dates have been announced, the level of detail included in the filing indicates this may be a more involved project, and we have a rough indication of when the ride may be closing. The permit is currently listed as “Plan Review,” meaning it has been submitted but is not yet finalized. At this time, Disneyland has not added Pirates of the Caribbean to its refurbishment calendar.
On the Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite page, Pirates of the Caribbean is listed as one of several experiences that may be unavailable, so this may be the timeframe during which the ride will be closed for refurbishment. Also included on this list is Blue Bayou Restaurant, which we assume will likely have a closure coinciding with the Pirates of the Caribbean dates.
Here is the full message from Disney on the Star Wars Nite page. As always, all of this is subject to change. Only select attractions, experiences, offerings and services will be available during the event. Offer, event and event elements are subject to restrictions, change or cancellation without notice or liability. Certain attractions and offerings may not be available during the event, including without limitation, Jungle Cruise, Fortuosity Shop, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Hungry Bear BBQ Jamboree, Blue Bayou, Pirates of the Caribbean and Chester Drawer’s. Be sure to check attraction availability closer to the event date, as schedules may change.
For an idea of the potential timeframe of this closure, Star Wars Nites take place on April 28, April 30, May 4, and May 6, 2026.
Previously, this type of notice was how we found out about closures for Jungle Cruise and the Monorail, as they were listed on the 70 Years of Favorites Disneyland After Dark events page before being officially added to the refurbishment calendar. However, the language in the Star Wars Nite notice is notably more tenuous than it was for that previous announcement. You can see a full list of all of the Disney ride closures in March here.
Guests planning upcoming visits can continue to monitor official updates in case a closure window is announced.
