Oga’s Cantina, the immersive Star Wars-themed bar in Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, has now begun what is set to be a multi-week closure. The location is closing in the context of several broader sweeping changes coming soon to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to shift the timeline.

Disneyland Oga’s Cantina Closure
Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge is about to undergo a major shift this year. Instead of restricting the entire land to the timeline of the sequels, they are bringing in elements of the original films to certain areas. These changes are, for all intensive purposes, a relaunch of the land that will introduce original trilogy characters, store and merchandise updates, and changes to certain dining experiences.

As we shared in a map seen in the below post, Darth Vader and classic stormtroopers will come to Black Spire Outpost, and Luke, Leia, and Han Solo will appear in the village area. The area surrounding Rise of the Resistance will be dedicated to the Age of the Resistance and the First Order from the sequel trilogy.

There is far too much to explain here, which is why you should check out all of the details about the bigger changes coming to Galaxy’s Edge in our full article, but Oga’s Cantina is temporarily closing in the context of this major shift happening in the land. These changes are coming about a month before the debut of a new storyline on the Millennium Falcon ride.
These changes officially debut on April 29, 2026, but it is possible that some parts of the area, like Oga’s Cantina, may be ready to reopen before that point.
This closure was originally listed on the calendar to last only five days, but it has since been updated. As of right now, Oga’s Cantina is closed, and there is no reopening date listed on the Disneyland refurbishment calendar through the beginning of March, making this at least potentially a six-week closure.
It is possible that it could open sooner or later than this, as refurbishment timelines are always subject to change. Rise of the Resistance also just closed for refurbishment (unrelated to the changes coming) without a reopening date listed yet.
We do not yet have many details about what this refurbishment will entail. What we do know is that, given that the timeline of the marketplace area is shifting back a few decades, Disney is altering the storyline of Oga’s Cantina.
In this version of Batuu, Oga has only recently come to Black Spire Outpost, and Disney shared that guests will get to see the start of that operation: “In the era of the Galactic Civil War, proprietor Oga Garra only recently opened this watering hole, which is already becoming a popular spot for intergalactic travelers.”
We also know that the iconic “Cantina Band” song will play at Oga’s Cantina. This is the song you hear when Luke and Han visit the Mos Eisley Cantina in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
There are going to be some broader changes to the music of Galaxy’s Edge to incorporate more of the classic Star Wars music. In the land, guests will hear “Main Title” and Force Theme as they pass through the tunnels, and deeper into the land, motifs from other classic tracks, including “Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” “The Emperor,” and more, will play.
In regard to the food at Oga’s Cantina, we heard from Disney that they are “engaged with both our food and beverage and merchandise partners” on the timeline shifts and “working really closely to update and align some of those offerings as well.” If the closure has something to do with the broader Galaxy’s Edge changes, it stands to reason that we may generally see a fair amount of new items coming. It is possible that the Oga’s Cantina menu will undergo a refresh, still maintaining fan-favorite offerings.
What this broadly means for Oga’s Cantina is that the location’s storyline (and perhaps elements of its interior and menu) may now be distinct from its Disney World counterpart. See our discussion on whether these bigger changes are coming to Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge as well.

We also wonder if Oga’s Cantina will continue to operate without reservations after these changes to the land are implemented. This was a recent change that Disneyland made to the land last fall, when they dropped reservations and made the location walk-up only. We assume this shift was made because demand has been reasonably low enough to justify it, but this could change when the new Galaxy’s Edge updates debut.
There are still many details we don’t know about this refurbishment, but we will continue to keep you updated here at Mickey Visit when we receive more news.
