1. Tiana's Bayou Adventure

Tiana's Bayou Adventure at nighttime Disneyland

If you already love this fun ride during the daytime, we think you'll love it even more at night. The mountain is beautifully lit up in different colors, and the nighttime setting adds to the thrill of the famous drop at the end.

But don't close your eyes at the top of that 52-foot hill, or you may just miss the best part. Right before you splash down, you'll get to enjoy a phenomenal view of the beautifully lit up New Orleans Square and Frontierland.

2. Astro Orbiter

Astro Orbitor at night

Many people skip this ride because of its simple concept, but think twice before you pass by on your next trip! During the day, it's fun. But once the moon's out? It's breathtaking.

Not only is it a fantastic ride at night, but lines are usually extremely short or nonexistent late at night. You'll control how high your rocket ship flies, and we recommend going as high as possible for optimal views of the idyllic Main Street, U.S.A. and Tomorrowland, a land full of neon lights.

3. Mad Tea Party

You've probably experienced this ride before, but if you haven't ridden it at night, you haven't ridden it at all! One of the best parts of Mad Tea Party in general is the adorably whimsical theming of the ride.

Once you add in the colorful lights? It makes for an unforgettable experience, one that is always an absolute favorite of my trip. And as an added bonus, the line is usually short-to-nonexistent once the park is about to close.

4. Pixar Pal-a-Round

Pixar Pal-A-Round at night

We're hopping over to the other park for our #4 pick of Disneyland rides to do at night, the Pixar Pal-a-Round. Whether you choose a stationary cart or a swinging one, the Pal-a-Round offers incredible views of a glowing Disney's California Adventure once the sun goes down.

Not only will you see throughout every area of the park, but at the very tip top, you'll even get spectacular views of the highest points of Disneyland, like Space Mountain. What's left to do? Cozy on up next to that special someone and enjoy the ride.

5. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night

I've never met anyone who isn't a fan of The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness, but at night, it only gets wilder. Once the sun goes down, it truly looks like another ride thanks to the fun lighting effects that turn on once it gets dark.

The consistent effects inside the ride, like the dynamite fuses, are considerably brighter and crisper at night, greatly adding to the storyline. Plus, many guests report the Frontierland favorite feeling significantly faster in the dark, making it a more thrilling experience.

6. The Incredicoaster

Pixar Pier at night

One of the most popular renovations to Paradise-turned-Pixar Pier, The Incredicoaster has been receiving rave reviews from park guests. But those who have ridden it in the daylight and the moonlight agree that riding it at night is a far superior experience.

Pixar Pier is gorgeously lit up, and there's no better way to get a literal front row seat to the spectacle. Plus, the effects inside the tubes, such as Jack Jack's laser eyes, will seem more drastic and enthralling when it's dark out. You don't want to miss this!

7. Radiator Springs Racers

Cars land at night

If you've experienced it, you'll know what we mean: Radiator Springs comes alive at night. Lined with 1950's-style neon lights, the land is truly meant to be experienced once the sun goes down.

Inside the land, the ride that lends itself the best to moonlight is definitely Radiator Springs Racers. The pathway you travel will be beautifully lit up – especially that waterfall!

8. Matterhorn Bobsleds

Disneyland rides to do at night: Matterhorn Bobsleds at night

We left the best for last. Our favorite pick for Disneyland rides to do at night is Matterhorn Bobsleds. As the highest point in Disneyland at 147 feet, it naturally offers spectacular views of both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure.

Since the tracks wind circularly around the mountain, you'll get to enjoy virtually every area of both parks, all breathtakingly lit-up. Traveling through chilly mountainous caverns in a bobsled, peeking out over Main Street U.S.A. is without a doubt continually one of the most magical moments on my trip, and one that I treasure. I cannot recommend it more.
