8 Disneyland Rides Closing For Refurbishment In Coming Weeks During Summer Period

Throughout the year, Disneyland will schedule routine refurbishments for attractions to ensure they are running well and implement any improvements. Sometimes these refurbishments will take place in clusters around the same time, which is the case for a few on the Disneyland calendar that are coming up soon this summer. You can keep up-to-date on all of the current and upcoming Disneyland ride closures in our guide.

Looking ahead, there are some refurbishments scheduled in the coming weeks for some smaller attractions and major rides alike. You'll want to be aware of these Disneyland ride closures if you have a trip planned for this summer! Keep reading for more details…

Disneyland Ride Closures for Summer

A new batch of closures was recently revealed on the Disneyland calendar for some rides at both parks. Some of these are Fantasyland rides that we don't expect will have long closures, while others are bigger rides that are likely undergoing some more extensive maintenance. In total, there are 8 upcoming summer ride closures and a few more closures that are happening right now.

At Disneyland Park, there are a few different closures planned for the summer.

Storybook Land Canal Boats will close for refurbishment on July 21, and Casey Jr. Circus Train will close on July 28 for refurbishment. No reopening date has been listed yet at the time of writing for either of these. Main Street Cinema is also closing on July 15 and reopening July 17 to add the short “The Last Verse” film honoring the impact of the Sherman Brothers. This film will be available when the new verse written by Richard Sherman debuts at “it's a small world” on the park's anniversary date of July 17.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will be closing a little bit earlier than the rest of these attractions on June 30. There is not yet an opening date for this, so we assume it's going to be a longer closure. All of these rides join a few other current closures, including the Matterhorn and Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (the latter of which is reopening July 3).

Over at Disney California Adventure, there are a few other closures coming up soon this summer.

The Pixar Pal-A-Round closes for refurbishment on July 14, and it reopens on July 25. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail closes for refurbishment on July 21, and no reopening date has been listed yet. We know it has to reopen before the Oogie Boogie Bash parties kick off on August 17 due to the Villains Grove overlay, so this won't be a terribly long closure.

There was also a recent reopening at Disney California Adventure. In our most recent Mickey Visit Disneyland This Week where we share essential news and dates we shared that the Pixar Place Hotel gate into Disney California Adventure has now reopened. This gate only operates from park opening to noon as an entrance and as an exit at all hours of the day.

And lastly, we have two major closures coming up in Disney California Adventure.

The Incredicoaster closes on July 28 for refurbishment, and no reopening date has been listed yet. Disney also recently shared that Radiator Springs Racers will be closing just ahead of the start of the Halloween season on August 18, and the ride will be down for a little over a month.
