Disneyland Reopens Previously Closed Space for Special Limited-Time Experience

As part of a special, limited-time experience, a beloved hidden gem space at Disney California Adventure has temporarily reopened! The Beast's Library attraction in Disney's Animation Building was closed in late 2023, as Disney Imagination Campus moved here from the former Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar, but it is now available for guests to visit once again.

The Beast's Library was a themed space where guests could take a quiz to see which Disney character they were most like. The room has quite a cool, moody atmosphere with the ability to deliver lighting shifts and other special effects. Since its closing, it has not been available to the public until now, as it is currently hosting a special Disney Lorcana trading card event. Keep reading for more details on how you can access this hidden gem space as part of a limited-time experience!

Disney Lorcana is a trading card game where players (called “Illumineers”) use six types of magical ink to summon reimagined versions of Disney characters (called “Glimmers”) that possess the magical qualities of the ink they represent. The game involves players collecting cards, building decks, and strategically playing against their opponents.

To join the event, you will need to pick up a wristband before 2 pm at a distribution area outside Off the Page in Hollywood Land. From here, you'll be assigned a return time, then you'll be able to see a special show telling the story of Lorcana inside the Beast's Library. The experience will be available for a few weeks or while supplies last.

A fun detail is that the artist in the show is wearing the costume and using the paintbrush of the former Mickey and the Magical Map show that used to run at Fantasyland Theatre!

This is a fun way to once again experience this favorite space that has been inaccessible to the public for a while now! We generally love the Animation Building, as it provides some great hands-on activities and a way to escape the crowds.
